That issue aside though, allowing me to download an app to my iPhone from some other store does not impact anyone else's iPhone. That's false assumption that many are making. Perhaps because they have fallen for Apple's propaganda.
You obviously have ZERO clue on how computers and the internet work.
You're right. My 30+ years as a software engineer have taught me nothing.

Just admit that you have fallen for Apple's propaganda. But please stop the fear-mongering.
Not propaganda at all. Real world experience for also 30+ years having dealt with exactly what you erroneously claim can’t affect anyone else.

You obviously have ZERO clue on how computers and the internet work. Once your system is compromised by crap software/malware/virus it can start sending out from your Message and email contacts that infectious sewage to everyone you have contact information. Now because of your erroneously flawed logic everyone else’s iPhone is forced to be “open” they are inevitably infected BECAUSE OF YOU! All from the misfortune of having known you.

I can’t begin to count the number of Windows systems I’ve had to work on and try salvaging data because of this exact scenario.

  • Apple suffers fourth consecutive quarter of declining sales, beat Wall Street anyway

You apparently have selective memory. The 3GS was only at that price WITH CARRIER SUBSIDIES. The actual purchase price was $700 (US) for a 32GB model. (BTW $1000+ adjusted for inflation.) With the subsidies the carrier made you pay the $200+ upfront to walk out the door. That model changed by carrier demands, paying for the whole thing upfront or through a 24 or 36 month 0% interest offer.

My iPhone upgrade last year had the carrier promotion of $1000 off over the 36 months with trade in - so my 14 Pro Max with 256GB will only be about $300.

Apple’s markup is hardly greedy. They average in the 25% profit margin range. The fact that other companies making consumer electronics and computers operate at razor thin margins is only the fault of said companies. Those companies pooping out flimsy plastic garbage is precisely why I buy quality Apple products.

Maybe people are getting pissed off with your prices eh? Your actions on the market then drive up the prices of other smartphone manufacturers cos then they get greedy too. I remember buying my first iPhone 3GS for £299 or £349 back in 2009 or so. Now the same equivalent for me in a Pro Max model is circa £1400.

  • GM ditching CarPlay & Android Auto for Google-built infotainment system

I can guess how this is going to go with a company that makes its money on advertisements. We have a vehicle made by GM or any others that thinks Google is a good idea and our dashboard, infotainment, and potential rear entertainment screens start popping up ads as we drive past different businesses. NO THANKS!

  • HomePod 2 review: A great smart speaker that struggles to stand out

I bought two for my entertainment center. Can’t wait to get them set up!
I did as well. If anyone is looking to get one at a bit of a discount, I found open box returns for $45 off at Best Buy. They seem to go in and out of stock, so it may take some searching.

Fortunately, with the addition of some kudos gift cards from my employer and BB rewards points, I was able to get both including AppleCare for a total cash outlay of about $200.

Just saw that Costco still has the white ones available online for $10 off with shipping included.
