Data shows 62% of Apple TV+ subscribers are on a trial, most don't plan to renew
This was my comment on Apple TV+ launch back in 2019:My concern with AppleTV+ is not really the quality of the shows, given enough money there will be a few good ones and a few bad ones.
My question is - 'what does apple bring to the table?'.
Apple has always been meticulous in choosing to enter spaces where they can bring something to the table. whether it is wearables, phones, music players, iTunes etc. I don't see anything that apple can do in streaming shows that others can't or don't have the ability to do. I am not convinced this is a great investment.I see no reason to change my opinion yet.

Apple puts iPhone assembler Wistron on probation over India factory riot

Whether it be the VP taking the fall, there were people up the ladder that did this and should be jailed. It sounds like there were little to no consequence to those corrupt folks in management.Apple should look elsewhere. I wouldn't trust Wistron to do the right thing. Both Apple and Winstron should have known the abusive nature of the ingrained caste system that dominates the daily lives of India people. Knowing this, they should have made plans and put checks/balances in place to prevent this dehumanizing abuse and flat out wage theft that will always incite a violent response just out of frustration. While I can’t condone the destruction of anyone’s property, stealing some one’s hard earned wages especially during a world wide pandemic is just plain mean and utterly despicable!Don't comment nonsense about a country without knowing da*n sh*t about it. This has nothing to do with Caste, either upper or lower. This is a simple worker-management problem caused by the fact that 90% of the employees at wistron are contract workers employed through employment agencies, and not permanent employees. Stop this propaganda bullsh*t that you are indulging in. -

Google's search engine deal with Apple a centerpiece of DOJ lawsuit
Gaby said:Ok but one can’t have it both ways. They cannot argue that users specifically choose to use google search because of its superiority, but then also pay Apple a vast fortune to set it as default. And by the same token if it is indeed so easy for users to change to the search of their preference (which on a technical level it is) and again, if it’s the search engine of choice why are they preinstalling it everywhere they can and why is it so important to have it be the default app to begin with. The fact is that most people will simply use whatever comes preinstalled. Few will take time to download and try different engines to see which is the best for them or to compare as they are in many respects lazy like that and people over 35 are less savvy to these things anyway. My sisters are 28 and I don’t think any of them are very familiar with iOS settings or know they can change default browser or search and the same for many of my friends of similar or even younger ages. So I think they’re being quite disingenuous in their arguments.
Your argument makes no sense. Cars come loaded with a music system, and you can change it whenever you want. But most people don't, so is that monopoly?
In software terms, all apple products come pre-installed with some software like photos and music, does that mean it is a monopoly.
If the user has an easy way to change the default search engine and the other search engine will function just as smoothly and efficiently as google, then it can't be considered as a monopolistic practice. It is just a standard business agreement.
The problem with IE and Netscape was that IE had access to underlying windows routines (which netscape didn't) which made IE a much faster experience than Netscape. If the google search default doesn't get any kind of preference over another search engine then this case has no meat in it. It is just a witchhunt to make some bribe money probably. -
Foxconn says trade war means China can no longer be 'the world's factory'
blastdoor said:GeorgeBMac said:If, as he says, it's all about Trump's trade war, then that will no longer be necessary once we can return to facing our real enemy: Russia.
Putin's Russia is essentially a criminal organization with nuclear weapons.
China is a legit great power with long term strategic ambitions.
Of the two, Russia is probably harder to negotiate with but easier to straight up defeat if we were to get serious about defeating them.
China is probably harder to straight up defeat but easier to influence through negotiation and diplomacy (not just negotiation and diplomacy with china but also with allies interested in containing China). That's because China has long term strategic interests that go beyond the narrow personal interests of current leadership. I think Chinese leadership (and Chinese more generally) see themselves as being part of human civilization, moving the species forward (just not necessarily in ways that Americans and Europeans would always agree with). Russian leaders are just thugs running a syndicate.
