Apple Card: no multi-user support, no penalty rates, foreign transactions, more
rob53 said:I agree but I wish it wasn't backed by a MasterCard although that's what Costco uses in Canada (Visa in the US). I wish the Card wasn't associated with any credit card company. -
Apple Card: no multi-user support, no penalty rates, foreign transactions, more
lordpixel said:Maybe this is a dumb question but how can it be secure if it has a mag stripe? That means it can be cloned like any other card and the number encoded on the stripe stolen?
I suppose that number might be disposable in the sense they would issue you a new card without closing your account and opening a new one but I would prefer a card with no stripe. Swiping is becoming rare and I could always use a different card. -
Next-generation 'budget' iPad rumored to retain Touch ID, headphone jack
The iPad v6 has long been the hidden hero of the iPad line, giving what appears to be great value for the money. It sounds like the v7 will continue that trend. My kid is in the market to replace her iPad, it sounds like this is the one to get.
I'm also glad to see the mini 5 will also be coming soon. I'm an iPad mini person, and the only question mark I have is if the mini 5 will have the pencil. Give me that, and I'm *sold*. -
Hackers using stolen iPhone prototypes to probe security and develop iOS exploits
snow66 said:So based on this article... STOLEN iPhone prototypes are being used by hackers to create exploits that law enforcement agencies are taking advantage of to get data off encrypted iPhones. If this is true then law enforcement has determined it is OK to pay companies for services they have because the company knowingly acquired and used stolen goods. Not the type of activity I want out of law enforcement. Looking at it from the other side, do we think law enforcement is doing their best to help Apple track down the stolen devices?
I guess as long as law enforcement perceives that they need these devices they are willing to "look the other way."
There's a word for that. And a legal precedent.

Apple pulls duplicate App Store VoIP titles accused of exploiting search categories
So what happens to the people who bought the clone applications instead of the ones that Apple decided to allow them to keep? They just got marooned with no chance of updates, or even the ability to put the same app on new or restored devices.
Remember, you don't get to keep your copy of your apps any more-- you depend on the apps to stay in the app store or you lose them, even if you PAID for them.
