  • iPhone 8 breaks Apple's decline in China, questions remain around iPhone X

    They argue
“Apple is unlikely to sustain this growth in Q4”

This defies all logic. There is every reason to expect sales to accelerate with the launch of iPhone X.

Also it’s a misnomer to portray recent ‘declining’ sales figures in China as bad. The fact is that Apple has maintained it’s market share despite the much cheaper government sponsored competitors. The market is ripe for an iPhone 6 style explosion of sales.

  • Apple sells out of launch day iPhone X supply in matter of minutes

No. Launch day supply has not sold out.

    ‘Pre-order supply’ sold out.

A certain amount of ‘launch day supply’ has been reserved for in store purchases on launch day.

  • Google investigating reports of screen burn-in on Pixel 2 XL

    You write:
Unusual sensor and software technology lets the phones achieve simulated bokeh —as on the iPhone 8 Plus —without a second camera lens.

This feature is badly broken. Some of the pictures are horrible. Google should really have called this “beta”. It remains to be seen if they can really do it with just one camera.

(actually you can get good optical bokeh in macro type shots with single lens cameras, I take these all the time with an iPhone 6 with the camera focused on a small subject, such as a butterfly, 2.5-4 inches away.)

  • Apple to stockpile 2-3M iPhone X units prior to launch, component shortage eases in Novemb...

By the time information filters through to Kuo it might already be weeks old, if he thinks they have 2-3 million they probably actually have 4-5 million. Also the fact that he has changed his mind about which part is causing the bottleneck is indicative of the fact that he is not really very accurate and does not really know the whole picture. In effect, he has back-tracked on his earlier reports about the Romeo and Juliet components.

He issued fearful, gloomy reports about iPhone 8 production problems right up until about a week before launch. They met demand, which of course was lower due to people waiting for iPhone X. The initial sales for iPhone X will also be lower than a normal cycle - but together 8 + X will be huge.

  • Greenpeace lauds Apple renewable energy efforts, decries 'right to repair' stance

As technology advances devices will only get more difficult (or impossible) to repair.

Attempted repairs can also have serious safety risks.

Apple are committed to a ‘cradle to grave’ approach that includes recycling every part of a device that has reached end of life.

Apple devices are very well made and receive on-going software upgrades for years. So the life of Apple products is surely much higher than the industry average.

As for ‘right to repair’ - it’s your device you can do what you want with it. But you don’t have the right to put other people’s lives at risk by messing with your battery and climbing on an airplane!
