Our favorite tips and tricks for making the most out of Apple HomeKit
iOS normally shuts down an iPad's Wi-Fi connection after a period of time while the screen is off, in order to save battery (unless connected to external power or you are streaming data). So if an iPad is used as a hub I would think Wi-Fi would have to remain persistent even with the device locked -- doesn't that impact battery life? Maybe it's minimal, I'm just curious if there's any impact. -

You can, however, screen mirror a FaceTime session to ATV using your iPhone or iPad.
