Apple has always had a counter-productive relationship with game developers, dating back to the Mac. Gaming is a $100 billion industry! They are getting it right on the iPhone but not on Apple TV or the Mac... why? And also ... release a darn controller already - they could probably get a product on the market in a few months ... my guess is game controller margins are at least 100% ... this is a no brainer.
The Nimbus seems to be pretty good already -- and about the same price as other controllers.  I'm not sure Apple could add any value to this...
I agree - I actually own a Nimbus. The build quality is very good and it works seamlessly.
But I think Apple creating its own controller (with a glowing Apple logo on top) would be more of a symbolic gesture that they are finally serious about gaming (beyond the casual mobile gamer), and send an important and necessary positive message to game developers.

When you hire scorpions, you get stung, This is the nature of the Chinese. The Western world has trouble understanding this mentality. China is a communist, religionless nation. Stealing is not a sin. Stealing is acceptable and encouraged. Those that bring back stolen technology to advance the Chinese nation are heros. So hire away all the Chinese nationals you want, but understand it's not 'if' you will get robbed by them, but 'when' you will get robbed by them.

  • 'Dysfunctional' analysts 'cut and run' from Apple results call, says Jim Cramer

Apple will never be able to compete profitably against these state backed competitors. China plans to run Apple out of the market, the same way they hinder/ban Microsoft, Google and Facebook. The phones are all loaded with WeChat, so the government conveniently has tracking software within each handset to keep its citizens inline. What a dreadful society.

  • Qualcomm versus US FTC 'no license, no chips' antitrust trial wraps up

Apple must have a solid case to take it this far. Qualcomm currently has the best technology out there. We can only hope that after the smoke clears, Apple will again use Qualcomm chips until Intel (or Apple itself) has technology on par with Qualcomm's offering to enable them to ditch them completely without being at a disadvantage.
