  • Evidence of 'copy-acquire-kill' strategy could play role in big tech antitrust hearing

Microsoft invented and perfected ‘copy acquire kill’ ... they were 90 days away from killing off Apple after they stole their OS! Microsoft stifled innovation with their monopoly in computing for over 25 years. Intel did the same on the chip side with their inefficient hot running chips, killing off 64bit RISC processor competitors made 20 years ago. Ironically today we are seeing the most innovation from Apple with a new OS running on new devices using 64bit RISC processors. Apple is no saint - but at least when they acquire smaller software companies their users benefit and the acquired company consensually agrees to the millions of dollars they receive as compensation.

  • Apple uses WWDC to launch assaults on Google strongholds

Frenemies ... Apple also is adopting VP9 and WebP and allowing users to select default browser and mail clients - it’s a balance.

  • Components for first Apple Silicon Macs will cost Apple more, says Kuo

Complete BS - the cost will be far less for Apple in the long term, that’s one of the major reasons for the migration! Cheaper, faster, cooler. The 28 core Intel Xeon processor in the Mac Pro’s top configuration retails for $3400 - just the cost of the CPU part alone! Then add all those dang cooling fans :-) I bet Apple will be making a performance equivalent 3nm multicore14z at 1/10th the cost by this time next year. We will see more Macs at the $999 price point and below in the next couple of years - choosing ARM over Intel will be a no brainer!

  • Review: Sony X800H HomeKit TV is an excellent mid-tier set

IMO - Now more than ever people are watching a lot of TV, so I would recommend not settling, and saving up for the better set. If OLED price is out of reach then look for multi zone local dimming (the more zones the better, and smaller sizes usually short change you on number of zones / 65 currently seems to be the sweet spot in price and performance), Dolby Vision and HDR10 support is a must. Most built-in streaming software use slow processors, have mediocre low resolution interfaces and aren’t updated often, so pair your new TV with the current best streamer, AppleTV 4K. Add a sound bar - or preferably AV receiver for much better sound than the typically abysmal built in speakers. For TV brands; LG for OLED, or higher end model Sony or Vizio (Sorry Sammy still don’t trust your reliability) add a Yamaha AV for a killer combo.
