Meta joins list of companies that disapprove of Apple's DMA response
There are plenty of decisions made by others possibly affecting me and I just choose to avoid them. An example is the Best Buy return policy. They treat you like a crook even if it is unopened and if opened there are all kinds of rules with the goal of preventing the return. My solution is not to shop there. Another is Costco with their membership fee. No one likes it but those who like the store will pay. That too is something I will not pay for. Those are business decisions that directly affect consumers and their solution is to move in.
Any company thinking they are going to use a company's IP for free is delusional. Maybe Apple could give a crippled API away but require money for the full API. The freemium model. -
Apple won't license Masimo's patents despite Apple Watch import ban
I’m sure Apple has their own replacement for the possibly patent and fringing Massimo pulse oximeter. a different version of it. Will be back on the next watch, and there may even be another surprise. The medical device companies are going to be on the ropes as Apple continues to move into their territory. Like everything else Apple will move slowly and systematically until they’re at the top. -
iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra -- specs, price, & features compared
charlesn said:It would be interesting to know what percentage of buyers are agnostic about which OS their phone is running. I would imagine that number is very small. For eveyone else, any difference in feature sets is trumped by which OS the phone runs. Android folks will stick with an Android phone while those in the Apple ecosystem will choose iPhone. I would say that Samsung's main competitor isn't Apple, but Google and other premium Android phones. It's clear from the review above that both of these phones are great performers worthy of the best-in-class status, and any "wins" by one side or the other these days tend to be more at the margins. -
'Strong action' is coming if the EU doesn't like Apple's App Store concessions
gatorguy said:rax_mark said:The EU, unlike the US, believes in the spirit of the law, instead of the word of the law, Apple should have realised that.Apple cannot win this one by using legal loopholes. I suspect if this continues we may see one of two possibilities:-I) Apple exits the EU.II) The EU bans Apple within its borders.I suspect Apple doesn't want to give up the European market to Samsung and Google, so the first one is highly dependent on whether Apple can still get a profit with side loading existing.
