  • Apple slammed with $1 billion class action lawsuit in UK over 30% App Store fee

These oppressed people purchased and downloaded the application development kit knowing when they deploy they are going to be charged a fee for doing so. The decision was a part of their business plan whether they knew it or not. No different from the people forming a class action lawsuit against their government for collecting taxes. You know you owe taxes just after you are hired and have to give them your SSN for them to start sending payroll tax. You knew up front so why did you go to work?

I have had it with a nation and world of freeloaders wanting everything for free expect for the fees they charge for their products (in this case apps).

Apple could probably block UK apps and no one would miss them though there probably are one or two that are useful

  • 108 new emoji expected to become part of iOS 17 -- eventually

There are too many as it stands.

  • GM ditching CarPlay could go bad, complain car dealers

This will be a disaster much like “New Coke” and they have already been given multiple warnings. Thinking about it this may be closer to the Bud Light incident in terms of sales impact. There will be people on the lot who were told it doesn’t have CarPlay or Android Auto, and they will walk away. Others will never go to the lot, even if they are lifelong GM product owners.

  • Jony Ive designs $60,000 turntable for Scottish hi-fi pioneers

Words are inadequate to express my bewilderment.
If you are unfamiliar with the high end audio world then the price of this product is a shock, but what you do not know is the high end audio world has no problem paying insane dollars chasing perfect sound. Interconnects and speaker wire costing thousands of dollars, supports for holding speaker wire above the floor, amongst a ton of snake oil. There is no question that as you move up the cost chain there are improvements but they diminish fairly quickly when you move much above $10K. The improvements are there, but most would not care. The craziest waste of money I have seen is a network switch being sold as an "audiophile" switch. It is a relabeled cheap switch that is sold for more than $500. You have to go to an audio forum to see how insane the claims are.

  • Google's web ad choke-hold prompts lawsuit from largest publisher in US

Mr. Reid needs to recalibrate his thoughts. Without Google his ads are completely worthless and will have all but zero visibility. BTW has anyone tried to look at the USA Today (Gannet owned) online? It is a miserable experience with pop up ads continually showing up. Maybe they should start their own search engine so they can collect all of the ad money.
