  • Microsoft makes Outlook for Mac free

We should be paid to use Outlook. All of MS products are bloated to the point 90% of the features are worthless to most users.

  • New EU rules would force Apple to open up iMessage

We are living in a crappy world where innovation can be stolen by the government and then given away. Why create competitive advantages when your competitors can get them for free. Should this happen I hope Apple will allow us to block these other services. I'll accept SMS, but have no interest in getting crap from Facebook, WhatsApp, etc. I do not use these services and anyone who knows me knows my iMessage. Nothing could be worse than getting spam from third party services.

  • macOS targeted by evasive crypto-jacking malware

Stealing software and getting malware is no different from breaking into someone’s home in getting shot. Cannot feel bad for a bad side-effect of theft.

  • Apple inching closer to noninvasive blood glucose testing tech

There are two competitors (Dexcom G6, FreeStyle Libre and maybe more) selling devices that placed on the backside of your arm (other places might be possible) and they stay in place for about two weeks. It has a needle in the center that pierces the skin for continuous monitoring of glucose levels so you do not need to do finger sticks. My neighbor can check it anytime he wants to with a handheld device that also alerts him if his blood sugar is trending out of range (high or low). Great when it happens while sleeping. I do believe you can do the monitoring with a mobile phone instead of or in addition to their handheld device. He does not have a phone so I am not sure.

The watch will be another leap forward as it eliminates the need for purchasing a new device every two weeks or so and no initial prick.

  • Apple may be cutting contractors in an effort to slash costs

The reason you have contractors is for special skills or to supplement existing employees. It gives you an easy way to quickly bring people in and purge without laying off any employees. It’s also a way to test drive roller without having to hire and fire if they do not work out. I have heard of companies using a contractor hiring them in exchange for a negotiated fee. All depends on the agreement.
