  • AutoCAD gets native Apple Silicon support, boasts 2x speed jump

Damn, just bought a Thinkpad P14s for CAD work because things were a bit dire in Mac world. Ah well, needed it two months ago.

now for solidworks and Siemens NX.
There's no Solidworks made for Mac unless you are running virtual Windows on a Mac.

  • Razer Blade 16 vs Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch - compared

I have a 2023 MacBook Pro M2 Max with 96GB of RAM and 8TB SSD from my work place (yep, I maxed out the spec). I use Adobe applications daily and I have to say that GPU from M2 Max doesn't work well with the latest version of Adobe Illustrator (v.27). It lags big time. I have to turn off GPU Performance under Illustrator Settings in order for it to run smoothly. All other Adobe Applications work fine with M2 Max GPU. Cinema 4D 2023 runs fine also. The internal SSD is incredibly fast. Photoshop launches in less than 2 seconds. Copying a 700MB file from internal SSD to external SSD is so fast that I don't even see a progress bar.... about 1 to 2 seconds.

  • Apple Mixed Reality headset rumored to launch at WWDC 2023

$3000!!! 😅 Typical Apple. It would be nice to incorporate that with Apple Fitness so user can wear it while jogging on treadmill or on stationary bike. It would feel like you were there and it can seriously compete with Peloton.

  • New Mac Pro may not support PCI-E GPUs

Apple Silicon is designed as fixed bundles of CPU, GPU, ML, and RAM. It doesn't play well the modularity that has been with us since Mac II. And why buy fixed performance when you can scale using the cloud? Workstations made sense 30 years ago with SGI, NeXT, and Sun Microsystems. Apple should make a partnership with AWS (or make a Mac cloud), improve the dull non-design of Studio, and kill the Pro.
Cool concept for cloud computing. The down side if internet connection is down, the computer is down. Centralized workstation makes sense if everyone is back at the office and work. Post pandemic changes all that.

So much for modular design and now back to square one. This is going to be Mac trash can, the 2013 Mac Pro, all over again. Oh brother.
