  • Huawei CEO claims company can overtake Apple in 2018

Perhaps I should start a company, give away a crap cell phone for free, maybe just pay people to take them, and secure the highest marketshare crowned king by IDC. As the NIN cover of "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, I wear this crown of sh*t, upon my liars chair! I'm going to bet the lion's share of their sales are sub $100 units and that they lose money on the more expensive units due to low volume.
Lol, when you quote a lyric- you don't have to mention who did a cover of the tune.

  • Apple captures more than 103% of smartphone profits in Q3 despite shrinking shipments

It's still not a very useful measure.

Say that Apple makes 10 billion profit, Samsung makes 6 billions and everybody else loses 6 billion.

Then Apple makes 100% of industry - but Samsung also makes 60% of industry profits.

However, the "100%" suggests somehow that everyone but Apple is insignificant which is not the case in this example. It would seem more informative to compare Apple's profits to the closest competitors.
Indeed.. If Apple makes 100$ profit, Samsung makes 100$ profit, and two other players each lose 50$, then *both* Apple and Samsung earn 100% of total profits..   So, the percentage is meaningless on itself..
Good thing it's NOTHING close to that, and rather... as the article says: Apple made 103%, Samsung came in a distant second w/ .9%, & all others lost $.
If there is some ambiguity there, or it is difficult to fathom that there is a big difference between 103% & .9%, I'm not really sure expressing it in a different way is really gonna help you.

This headline is stupid. You can't capture more than 100% of something.
It means other players in this market lost money

Isn't this a bit dumb as Apple will just brick the handsets? Also, don't display handsets run a custom firmware?
Why would they care...they'll just sell them on eBay or something. Its not their problem.

Oh, eBay? Like the most traceable way possible. Seems legit.
Just 19 separate email accounts, 19 separate PayPal accounts, linked to 19 separate bank accounts.... sounds simple and fun!
Are you a criminal mastermind to concoct this brilliant plan???

Jk. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I guess you somehow have heard of eBay & very loosely understand its purpose, but the vagueries of how it operates are a mystery to you?
1st, the payment is via PayPal, which links to a bank account, which has your name & info. Sooooooo, probably not a good way to move stolen property. Also, PayPal can "reach" into that account & take back the money you received if the sale was contested. Next, it has a rating/feedback system. Nobody is going to send $600+ for a brand new phone to someone that has zero or negative one reviews.

Try using the slightest amount of critical thinking skills PRIOR to posting, please.

Did it really not touch you guys after your month of usage? If not take an "old" iPhone 6s, it will feel dead in your hands
I totally agree with this. For the other comment about how the home button feels, you really need to understand for the minimum difference in the "feel," you gain a world of difference in interaction with your phone. The sliding action, the scroll box, the toggle switches, etc, etc, everything comes alive. I hope Apple continue to improve on the taptic feedbacks and make them more sophisticated over time. This is really a unique feature on iPhone and it is only the beginning.

Yeah, & I'm noticing small new ones all the time!
The latest for me is: when someone sends you a message w/ the "slam" effect. Lol, it's so cool- you feel.... umm, a "slam" is really the best way I can describe it!
    VERY emotive.
