Floppy drive signed by Steve Jobs expected to fetch $7,500 at auction
damacguy said:That's a floppy DISK. A floppy DRIVE is what you put a DISK in. Kids today. ;-)
But is it a disc or disk? It’s a floppy diskette that contains a disc.
A CD is a compact disc not a compact disk.

A6X: How Apple's iPad silicon Disrupted mobile video gaming
Peza said:I have to say, although I think the iPhone and iPad are very powerful and capable gaming machines, they have no games. It’s all freemium crap. COD Mobile and Mario Kart are great and I enjoy them, but they are freemium titles designed specifically to make you spend spend spend.. now look at the Switch and the Switch Lite, fantastic machines and portable and complete with a big games library now, mostly premium games with no in app purchases.
Thats vastly more important then the power under the hood, and why Apple will never be able to seriously compete in the mobile games market. -
Editorial: Samsung hasn't copied Apple TV+ yet, but it's only a matter of time
I’m not seeing the dots to connect...
Samsung doesn’t do software well. They have Tizen... Ever see it on a phone in person?
Does Samsung have an office suite? Or, create any other software for Android? They rely on Google (3rd Party)... because they lack the ability.
Why is Apple TV+ any different? Does Samsung have deep connections with Hollywood? Film or movie producers that use Samsung’s software?
Apple TV+ is an ambitious project to produce content. Samsung isn’t going to do that. They might try to package your regular TV channels for Samsung devices...but that’s it.Samsung duplicating Apple TV+ is as likely as a cat barking like a dog. -
Disney CEO Bob Iger resigns from Apple board as streaming wars heat up
AppleExposed said:seanismorris said:jimh2 said:Apple will be getting skim off of Disney’s streaming offer. Probably 15% or whatever the rate is for subscription services. It is unfortunate that Apple and Disney did not combine efforts.
Disney’s streaming catalog is deep and even more so with the purchase of 20th Century Fox’s library along with all the channels Disney owns. Disney fans are like Apple fans...they love the product and will pay for it. Many will be surprised at the number of subscribers they will get. It’s another nail in the coffin for cable.
Source?“Instead, Netflix will direct these users to pay via mobile webpage, eschewing Apple'spercentage cut of subscription fees, as spotted by TechCrunch. Netflix and other apps currently pay Apple 30 percent of a user's first subscription and 15 percent for renewals. ... Netflix declined to officially confirm this information.Aug 21, 2018” The Verge
You can search on Google and find many mentions of this...
Anyone can avoid paying Apple’s 30% they just need a website to accept payments, their app listed for free on the Apple App Store, and access to the app content restricted by a username and password.
Many smaller services/apps will pay Apple’s 30% but most larger ones will bypass Apple. For example, I have NordVPN the “best” price is available through their website where they don’t have to pay Apple. You can still buy through the app if you’re to lazy to get the best price by entering your information through their website. -
Here's why Apple didn't win with a $500 million offer to J.J. Abrams for Apple TV+
