  • Apple over-ear headphones and 'AirPods X' may launch later in 2020

I’m convinced that these “AirPods Pro Lite” is just a new version of the regular AirPods. Smaller stem like the Pros have.

  • Computing would be totally different had Apple not been formed 49 years ago, today

I hitched a ride on Apple’s bandwagon in 1982 with an Apple ][+ and have never looked back. There’s something about the company even today that I find fascinating. Now that Apple is a trillion dollar company it has its problems and foibles but at the core it’s still the company it was in the early days. In my now 38 years on the bandwagon I have been treated well by Apple in both purchases and repairs. They fixed my late 2013 27”  iMac when the spring assembly holding the head up broke, long out of warranty, at no charge, with apologies. They fixed my water cooled G5, also at no charge. And they replaced my Power Mac 8100 immediately when the power supply failed, no questions asked.
Same here. They replaced the logic board and fan in my G5 iMac. A year out of AppleCare warranty. No questions asked. Had an iPod where the hard drive died. Out of warranty. They replaced it. Never had a problem with their service.

  • Two more macOS Zoom flaws surface, as lawsuit & government probe loom

Isn’t the Mac App Store supposed to prevent this bad behavior in app installs?

Most people must be getting the app from their website...

The App is not available in the Mac App Store. You have to download off the web. Which means you have to change the Gatekeeper settings to let that happen.

  • Zoom macOS install 'shady,' plus video chats aren't end-to-end encrypted

Where is Apple on this? Aren’t we guaranteed buys them that anything downloaded through the Apple store is perfectly safe?

It’s not available through the Mac App Store. The iOS version is sandboxed. Presumably that one is safe.

  • How to revive an iPod with a hard drive using flash storage

Seems like you could just transfer songs to your phone, or cloud storage.

With most folks on unlimited data through their cellular provider, I don’t see the problem.

There are all kinds of ways to convert DRM to mp3 (etc) if that’s the motivation to use an obsolete iPod.

These days the ability to use AirPods (etc) would out way the convenience of  iPod.

You could use a product like TwelveSouth’s Airfly. But admittedly it’s kinda bulky. Be kinda cool if there was a kit to add Bluetooth
