  • New 2nd-gen Siri Remote backward compatible with older Apple TVs, available for $59

It would be nice if it were programmable to use Siri to turn on your entertainment system and configure all the inputs with a single command, like a Harmony remote (RIP).

  • US government designates drone maker DJI as a national security concern

I don’t see any meaningful drone companies from the rest of the world in this field. The other top 2 also from China, sadly. But again the market is just not that big for big tech to join in. Even other companies joined, the mass production will likely in China anyway.

Possibly because they can't compete on price. Any drones made in the US would need to have decently paid labor whereas China can use what's essentially slave labor. This is the problem with companies sending their manufacturing over there: it sets a precedence on production cost that free countries can't meet.

  • Facebook says it hopes proposed EU rules 'set boundaries' for Apple

Do we really want FB to do more to stop "disinformation"? Who defines what disinformation is? It seems to me that they've been overdoing it on that front by censoring conservatives, whether it's disinformation or not.

  • How Apple Silicon on a M1 Mac changes monitor support and what you can connect

Very surprised the M1 MBP can only support a single external monitor. Probably half our current MBP users have a dual monitor setup, usually a pair of 4K, in addition to the built in display. This limitation takes the M1 off my list.

Clearly it’s not an inherent limitation of the M1 GPU, since the M1 mini can drive dual monitors.
So can the M1 in the MBP or MBA. The internal display just counts as one of the two.

It is absolutely a limitation of the M1.
    Duh! Of course you’re right.

Then it’s a surprising limitation of the M1’s GPU. Guess we may have to wait for an M2 for that.
I think you've got it exactly right about the M2.
    Or an M1X.

  • iPad Air 4 review: More pro than not

I got mine about a week ago and I love it. The screen quality and performance are a vast improvement over my iPad Air 2, for which I got $110 in trade-in value. I never thought a consumer tablet would be able to do 3D CAD, but with the Apple Pencil and Shapr3D, it's not only possible but downright fun.
