  • How Apple stockpiled iPhones to avoid tariffs and keep prices low for a while

Very simple in concept: return production to the U.S., although hasn't been done for years.
Workers in the clothing industry are paid 50 cents/hour doing jeans for Levi's in Lesotho.
The 50% tariff won't move jobs to U.S. (do you really want to work for 50 cents/hour?). Even 500% wouldn't do it.
The tariff will only make products more expensive, reduce margins at the cost of shareholders, reduce jobs in the U.S. to keep margins/due to reduced sales etc.

You don't even have enough workers to do all of it. Go make a proper plan instead!

  • Apple stock bloodbath continues after China applies retaliatory tariffs

It’s only logical right? Heck, back in 1995, nancy pelosi of all people was saying the exact same stuff trump is saying about the need for tariffs since we are being tariffed to death by everyone else. (I posted the video a few posts back) It’s necessary in order to level the playing field. The only thing trump is doing wrong is not being on the democrat side.
Your trade deficit with the EU is 3% which would have been a surplus if Boeing had shipped on time. And yet you're going to war.
Agriculture is less than 5% of your exports. Oil is 7-8%. Arms: 10%. Services: 33%. You should be worried about your main exports and let peanuts be peanuts.

On arms sourcing is changing. "It turns out that abandoning allies and tossing out security guarantees is bad for business.". There won't be any tariffs. We're simply changing our buying patterns. Services however will be directly hit by tariffs from EU.

China placing a 34% tariff takes care of the rest. It will take years before US can manufacture what China is doing. You will pay 34% extra at home causing inflation. And your exports will fail due to their tariff making it easier for Brazil and EU to get your export customers. When finally you start manufacturing it will be more expensive (unless those $3/hour wages are attractive) and your export customers will no longer be yours. How will that make you great?

Both parties will have to offer more compelling candidates if they want mainstream America to vote for non-Trump policies. We can't blame Trump for being Trump.

  • Apple will take a $33 billion hit to its bottom line because of Trump tariffs

I get why a lazy grifter will keep on grifting if he can get away with it, but what is impossible for me to wrap my head around is why so many people see his pathetic coward and fool that cares nothing about them as some sort of strongman and protector.
It is indeed interesting. Went on two road trips to the Deep South. A lot of Confederate flags, Trump 2020 signs, counterfactual history museums, and a Code Orange when passing a local school as they had their second shooting in a week.  These people are scared of vaccines but like fracking and smartphones. They stand for the national anthem but see the attack on Capitol as required "to protect the values".

Can it be fixed? I hope so.

  • How and where Trump's new tariffs affect Apple

The one slight positive is this disaster was created by the scribble of a sharpie  in a few seconds and can be deleted just as fast.
You can't. It would be easier trying to mend a marriage after the second affair. The tariffs will be removed at some point but the relationship is broken for good.

This move is being widely criticized but other countries have been unfairly locking US companies out of trade for a long time.
    ...
If the US tariffs were removed tomorrow, all that happens is US businesses go back to being taken advantage of.
We (EU) haven't been locking you out. We trade for $1600B and your deficit is 3%. There is one (1) company responsible for your deficit: Boeing. If they had shipped 777X within 5 years of schedule or delivered just 30 more 737 Max then you would have a clear trade surplus. Northrop could also have delivered just a few more F-35 jets. They didn't and now you hit EU with a 20% tariff.

We already felt betrayed on Greenland where you closed 15 bases and blamed us. And on Ukraine where you sided with Russia. The tariffs due to the failure of Boeing is the final straw. There is no love left. Reverting tariffs "tomorrow" won't bring back the relationship. You broke it - you fix it.
