  • AWS showdown: Apple once considered providing cloud services to developers

iOS apps need cloud services and those developers are on Mac. Going for cloud would is so obvious. With Apple Silicon and the need for AI even more so. Imagine if Apple had used the experience from Neural Engine and aimed for the cloud. But instead Nvidia, AWS/Amazon, Azure+OpenAI/Microsoft, and GCS/Alphabet are cashing in.

Apple could have stayed a solid #1 on market cap by investing in this.

No, these countries all had trade barriers on US goods

Did you know that Australia does not allow US beef because they say it’s poisonous due to poor US ranchers techniques ? Are you dead from eating UA beef? I am not.

Europe did same to American chickens .

That is why US export numbers so low and what Trump trying to fix
From personal experience, US chicken smells funny.

The smell is due to US doing acid washes of chicken (used to be chlorination). It is a way of compensating for poor hygiene standards. In general US food standards are good and on fresh dairy products the US standards are higher than EU. But for chicken and food additives US standards are driven by the industry.

On beef the problem is the US use of drugs/hormones in some products. There is a massive zero-tariff quota for clean US beef with USDA helping farmers. Stop complaining and start producing something people want to buy. Tesla showed that Europeans are ready to buy US cars. US wine makers are doing fine (or used to). It really is all about the product.

  • OLED MacBook Pro still expected for 2026, possibly with Samsung's help

The big problem with OLED would be the screen burn from the dock and menubar, and any other fixed item on the screen, which would rarely change.
The menu on macOS 26 is designed for OLED. Other vendors have been doing OLED for 9 years. Lenovo is even doing a rollable OLED for laptops where size can be adjusted. Display tech is essential to a premium laptop. Let us have OLED.

Can the Vietnamese population afford an imported American SUV? Farm products seem more likely if they can't get from a more regional partner already.
The main export is likely from Boeing due to a deal made in 2023 when Biden did a visit to Vietnam. As for farm products Americans are literally exporting peanuts.

Let us keep our fingers crossed for our heroes in Cupertino. Using the margin of Apple as fodder for the Big Beautiful Bill makes it somewhat less beautiful.

  • Brazil wants its piece of the App Store anti-competition fines Apple faces worldwide

These countries are a bunch of cockroaches. They can’t make anything themselves so they simply try forcing Apple to open everything up so they get stuff for free. Apple needs to double the cost of Apple products on every country that tries to sue them. The second thing will be to limit capabilities and/or to not sell to those countries.
Other nations are not cockroaches. That is one toxic view on other nations. And you would punish Brazil by selling inferior versions of US products? The Chinese would love that. Or you would stop buying coffee and regional jets neither of which are produced in the US? The alternative to Embraer is Airbus A220. Would that be any better?

China is funding a $80b rail project in Brazil and Peru. A modern Panama Canal. In 5 years the shipping time from Brazil to Shanghai will match that to Los Angeles. While the Chinese are actively taking control over your backyard the US isn't investing in a competing north-south rail link to help US companies. Instead you're giving away tax cuts making it even harder to finance a response. Being shortsighted is not how to win against the Chinese. Keep America relevant!
