Well, it seems Apple Intelligence is insanely great by functionality - not by name. A new golden era.

    Apple fought against standard connectors for iPhones, iPads, and accessories for 15 years after agreed to follow standards. A lot of e-waste caused by proprietary connectors and chargers and more so for all those proprietary chargers and dongles the Mac had for decades before USB-C and DisplayPort.

    Apple is mainly about Apple and keeping products nice but plan for something even nicer or more Pro/Max/Ultra to replace them. Mediocre by design.... someone should write a book.

    Apple is extremely slow at localizing. Just 9% of the countries in the world have SOS calls 2 years after iPhone 14. The only country added with iOS 17 is Japan as roll-out has stopped. It happens with a lot of features. Even those that don't hit any legal issues (less than half of EU is covered by SOS calls). Same for 5G mmWave hardware - limited to US models. Not that pricing outside US is different. We just get a lot less.

    Google Gemini AI is already available in 40 languages - https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/13575153?hl=en  75% of GDP and 96% of the population is outside US (and more when you subtract  the 13% Spanish speaking Americans). Apple won't get the sales it could have.

    Likely not. Vestager recently tried to hire an American for a senior position but got blocked by France. Her focus was on antitrust to keep the market open and privacy protection. The replacement will be forced to deliver protectionism and go further.

    Indeed. Tired of this "your robots.txt didn't block our stealing". It doesn't make it legal for Apple or anyone else to take original content and make it into a product.

    The desktop line could be mini and Studio. And perhaps just Studio unless the price and size of mini goes down.
    • Pro isn't really Pro these days with everything glued. Drop it and go Studio.
    • iMac 23.5" is an expensive mini with a small display, bad ergonomics, a terrible mouse, and only the base processor. Do we need it?
    • The old iMac Pro was a bad fix for not upgrading Mac Pro for 5 years and for making it far too expensive. Studio or mini + display is the fix for those big iMacs.
    There are currently too many product lines with not enough upgrades.
