M3 Max chips being tested for future MacBook Pro models
Marvin said:
Apple has to get nearly 80 million iPhone units ready for the Christmas period for iPhone but less than 5 million Macs. The number of high-end iPhones still outnumbers all their Mac shipments.
TSMC has to reduce defects in the manufacturing process for the low-end chips to get the best yield when they produce the Pro chips. The same happened with Intel, the entry i3 chips used the most advanced manufacturing and the Xeons were based on years old processes.
So... introduce iPad Pro with M3 and Air with A17 - but only do so if inventory is available? The iMac is a lost case, and the MBP 13 should die, but I see no urgency for upgrades to the low-end Mac products. -

This is getting confusing.
For iPhone we expect Apple to limit 3 nm to the iPhone Pro due to expensive technology and limited manufacturing capacity.
For Mac we expect Apple to deliver 3 nm to low-end products. This makes no sense.
Apple needed to do low-end first for the transition. To get the tech ready and applications for Pro users. The same happened from PowerPC to Intel,
Now the transition is in place and Apple can once again introduce tech from the top.

iPhone 15 rumors: Thinner bezels, USB-C, and more expensive
charlesn said:This is shaping up to be the most skippable Pro upgrade ever. I mean, when two of the "headline" upgrades are a bezel that's been narrowed by seven-tenths of a millimeter and the adoption of USB-C that has been an industry standard for a while, there REALLY must be nothing to talk about. I'm sure Apple will go heavy on the tech porn in describing the new A17 chip, but to what end other than the marketing need for something new?

New iPhone 15 Pro rumor backs Wi-Fi 6E making first appearance
6E is nice as a backbone in a mesh network, but living 4 miles from an airport causes the 6 GHz part of the network to often disable itself to avoid interference with radars. This is part of the standard. Not sure I can recommend to buy 6 GHz equipment just for 6E as the performance is the same as Wifi 6. Next year is Wifi 7 with 4-5x performance.
Obviously if you live in an apartment far from an airport and experience crowded networks, then 6E will help. -
Rumored iPhone SE 4 delayed another year over OLED production woes
Apple won't be able offer SE 3rd gen or iPhone 12/13/14 in the EU after 2024 due to the lack of USB-C. They will have to clear channel inventory mid-2024. There will be months with only the iPhone 15 series to cover a core market. That simply won't work. Either Apple will reissue iPhone 14 with USB-C or introduce a iPhone SE 4 - or both, and it will happen before mid-2024.
