Apple Silicon Mac Pro debut finally ends transition away from Intel processors
9secondkox2 said:Freaking letdown. Wow. Total disrespect to the Mac Pro. There’s no reason to buy one over a Mac Studio unless you need specialized I/O. With the starting price, looks like Apple really doesn’t want to deal with the Mac Pro anymore. -
Rumored Mac Studio trade-in points to possible refresh during WWDC
charlesn said:I have to laugh at the references to the Mac Studio as a "stopgap product." The R&D for an all-new product like the Mac Studio likely started at least a few and more likely several years before it hit the market.
It is a stopgap product in the sense that Apple realized a Mac Pro couldn't be shipped within the transition period. iMac Pro was another such stopgap product. Studio is a very nice computer - a modern IIci/cx, Quadra 700 or PowerMac 4400 - power you can afford. Due to the decline of desktops the Studio is populating a very small segment of the market. With the mini now being offered with M2 Pro there isn't much space left for several Studio configurations unless Apple makes it more interesting.

Rumored Mac Studio trade-in points to possible refresh during WWDC
The design of Studio is indeed uninspired and bland. It has the connectors the mini should have but besides that... nothing. It is a non-design. We don't need Ive back - butterfly keyboards, the Trash Can Pro that couldn't be upgraded, and a mouse that can't be used while charging... but we need more than Studio.
Why the trade-in? Could it be the Mac Pro at WWDC? Will it continue "upgrade = replace entire computer" or will memory, graphics or the motherboard once again be upgradeable? And will we get the option of nano textured ceramic ultra pro wheels at less than $4k- 1 long week to WWDC.

Nearly every Apple top exec is working on the AR headset
AppleZulu said:nubus said:michelb76 said:Obviously this device is not targeted at the general public. I think Apple just needs to get this out to get their feet wet.
And to those saying "every prediction has been wrong"... iTunes Ping, Segway, Google+, Google Wave, Newton, Apple Pippin,... Products do fail. -
Apple's headset drastically changed over time & top execs are skeptical
currentinterest said:Don’t believe it. Designed to lower expectations while the product blows people away. As initially a largely a developer tool, a sale at near cost is reasonable. The lower cost versions will make up for it.
