  • Facebook confirms plans for voice assistant to match Siri, Alexa & Google Assistant

The author of this blog is missing the key point by focusing on smart speaker share.  For example,  the Homepod may be in "only" millions of homes thus far, but Siri is by far the most used digital assistant in the world, now on about 1.5 BILLION devices and speaks more languages by far than any other one. If Facebook develops a digital assistant, they aren't limited to having it only on Facebook speakers.  LOL.  Facebook's digital assistant will likely work with many devices and platforms.

So much for this being kept secret eh?  So far both stocks are up so that is a good thing.  I for one am glad cooler heads prevailed. We own both.
Go back and read the article.  It's just another guess/speculation by an analyst.  USB "suggests."  It makes for interesting reading, but the authors of these articles consistently fail to make clear that most of what appears in these blogs is totally unsupported speculation by analysts, often who have an incentive to drive stock prices.

  • Apple investing more than $500M on Apple Arcade launch, report says

I have a hard time seeing how this succeeds. Mobile games are cheap. And most people don’t buy them that often. Hope to be proven wrong.
It will be a huge hit just from parents buying it for their kids.  Parents won't have to worry about advertising, the nightmarish expense of in app purchases, and of course, curated content that is safer for kids.  All of that plus kids begging for it.  Yep, parents alone will make this a huge success.

The other aspect most people don't understand is the same reason why Apple Music has been such a huge success.  Like many or most people I didn't buy music very regularly because of discovery and expense.  Once I tried Apple Music I was hooked as for about $7 a month I can get access to unlimited music, new and old, and there is easy discovery.  I am sitting here reading while listening to Apple Music on my fantastic sounding Homepod.  SIri works fantastic on the Homepod, and I just asked Siri to play some new music for me.  Whenever she plays something I like/dislike I don't have to even stop typing to ask her to mark it as such or add it to one of my playlists.

    Are you kidding me?!?

Siri is dead last when it comes to usefulness (and accuracy) in voice assistants.

Thanks for a FUD piece of journalism.
While accuracy is just one aspect of a useful assistant,  you and Alexa are not as accurate as you should be.   Here's the latest on accuracy.

  • Netflix disabled AirPlay because it isn't being told what device is getting the stream

Nope. But why does Netflix think they have a right to know what screen users are watching on, and how does that give them an advantage over broadcast?
Because it’s their product/service, and they fully well have a right to know who’s consuming it, how, where? You know, like just about every company does?

And those who don’t like it can go elesewhere, or not do business with them. This is not complicated.

Wow!  After purchase, every company has a right to know who's consuming it, where they are, etc.???  Your corporate overlords thank you for advocating for submitting to their control of your life and privacy.  We will let you get back to sending that email to Netflix about which guests you had over to your house this weekend who watched Netflix with you.  And don't forget to send them an email about where you watched that Netflix show you downloaded before your latest trip and who was with you.

Oh, and BTW, Pizza Hut is still waiting for an update on where you ate that pizza you picked up on Friday and who else consumed it.
