  • Apple updating New York City map with greater detail, Look Around [u]

LOL. "Apple has reportedly only recently been undertaking its own photography, which means the company is more than a decade behind Google." The inaccuracy of this statement on an Apple related website is astounding. Apple began "photographing" years ago as it undertook to build its own base map to replace the conglomeration of vendors that Scott Forstall hastily put together with disastrous results. Apple has now finally completed the base map, work still to be done, and that's why we are seeing them roll out features like Look Around, which is the effort of YEARS of photography, and there is universal agreement that it blows Google's Street View out of the water. Indeed, Apple has completed huge phases of photography such that it is now moving on to videoing pedestrian pathways in the US.

  • Apple TV+ will struggle to meet European quotas for local content at launch

It is understanding why they would want to encourage a local production industry, and it's in Apple's and others' interest to do so,.The challenge will be that the EU government has apparently relatively unbridled power over its citizens and businesses which brings to mind the question, is this going to be a moving line.  Once Apple and others have sufficient portions of the market, do they demand it is 50%, 75, 100?  Sovereign nations, or in Europe's case the individual countries have given up their sovereignty to a centralized group called the EU, have the right to set whatever laws they want, but this is an example of where they are headed.  Watch for them to insist on an increasing amount of quotas in a vast number of areas, to offset an inability for the companies in their sphere to be able to compete.

  • What to expect from Apple in October

"Then there's the business of the reverse or bilateral charging that failed to materialize in the iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max, but which is possibly present and disabled."

You've got to update your article.  This was thoroughly debunked by Apple a few days ago. Rene Ritchie spoke directly with Apple, and they laughed about it. They have no idea what Ifixit is seeing in the phone, but there is no hidden charger waiting to be turned on.

  • NBC 'Peacock' streaming service expected in 2020 with 15,000 hours of content

Wow so many services and so many hours of content!

What else is going to be on Apple TV+ besides the handful of new shows? All these other services have catalogs of content from decades past. Genuinely curious.
Apple will start off with about 10 and add more every month. By the end of the year will have over 30 "quality" shows.  Surveys show Apple's typical customer is the most educated and financially successful in the industry, so $4.99 will be a no brainer for tens of millions unless in the event that all of their shows are terrible.

The back catalogs are overrated as the vast majority of stuff is garbage that no one watches.  That's why a few shows like Seinfeld, Friends and The Office are the most watched and the bidding for the rights to them are insane.  Apple's Video Team clearly knows what it is doing.  And remember, within the year, Apple 's strategy of giving free subscriptions, along with paid subscribers, guarantees them that they will have the most subscribers, close to a quarter of a BILLION, in the world.

The shown iPhone image on top of the article looks like there are small (white) scratches near the edge. What happened?
I think that photo came from the hands on at the Apple event. It might be lint or the unit got a bit scuffed.

    NO, just reflections
