  • Apple isn't happy about India's demand to upgrade older iPhones with USB-C

It's already been shown that USB C will work in the older iPhones.

Apple should get their act together.
Unbelievable. If they care so much about it, why didn't governments step in when there were a ridiculous number of different USB-A/B connectors for different devices (which are now clogging landfills)?

That's the very reason why Apple chose to go with Lightning instead of USB in the first place. And boy did people complain about the switch from Dock to Lighting at the time! Now suddenly everyone is fine with buying all new USB-C accessories because Android users and governments are cheerleading USB-C. Gimme a break!

  • Bending Spoons lays off entire team behind Filmic Pro

What a shame.  When Filmic Pro went to Bending Spoons, the legacy community of Pro users revolted...see the app ratings...as their bought once app went to subscriptions (weekly, really?).  A year later, we read/hear this.  Here's hoping Barham gathers the original, brilliant Filmic crew, starts a new company, and rebuilds the loyalty with a new set of IP behind a new videography tool, reminiscent of the original Filmic.  I'm sure there are NDA and IP implications to making Filmic Pro, Filmic Pro again; however, I'm praying the originals can come back as a phoenix and go back to the non-lease-ware/non-rent-ware/non-subscription way of business!  I'm waiting.
Unfortunately that's the reality most software companies have come to: you have continual costs of development & support, and it's impossible to continually pay those costs when you only charge once. They used to try charging for major upgrades, but many customers would simply stay on the same version they originally purchased forever and never pay again. Hence why the subscription model started.

That said, if they're not adding any new features/refinements to the software and still collecting those subscription fees, customers definitely have a right to be angry. Not sure who is to blame for that (a disgruntled team and/or management reallocating them to other projects), but it's not surprising that a subscription product which has languished for 2 years isn't doing well.

  • Boy petitions Apple to change 'nerd face' emoji

I was bespectacled from fourth grade until my late twenties.  One word, little chap: LASIK.  It will change your life, you're welcome.
Nah, it's the Neanderthals who only know how to think with their eyeballs who need to change. Need to start a Clockwork Orange bootcamp where they're forced to watch Idiocracy until they understand what direction they're taking humanity.

  • How Apple's 40 years of learning & iteration is powering Vision Pro

I’m wondering how the Apple Vision Pro will play out with users due to its inherent ability to isolate the wearer from the rest of the world. I know that wearers of the device can interact with people nearby who are not wearing a face helmet, but what will the experience be for them? It may be unbearable to attempt to interact with someone who’s wearing scuba gear on their face, googly eyes or not.

But maybe that’s the whole point - totally isolation from reality. The real world is kind of a scary place these days. Mom’s basement, in stark contrast, is always warm and inviting. Free cookies. Free laundry service. When in your own cyber cocoon, free of stress and devoid of other unnerving life forms, everything is always good. Total nirvana.
I'd argue that the existing world of many people who sit in front of their television (or phone), safe in the cocoon of curated news which reinforces a worldview formed without any real interaction with most of that world, and commercials which give them objects to pursue isn't so different. The invention of the car, then the suburbs, then television created this path of social isolation for those who choose it a long time ago. Only the medium of delivery is changing.

Glad that you are in a better spot. I too would be curious to hear more about the question regarding the must have app for vision
Immersive movies (and eventually games). Once people experience that, regular TV will seem like radio. Sure Meta has that to some extent, but you can be sure Apple (and their entertainment division + industry connections) are doing it on a whole new level.
