  • Koch Group founders, Roblox, and more back Apple in 'Fortnite' antitrust case

Roblox Corporation is a deeply, deeply unethical company that exploits children.
Ugh, so gross. Thank you for this illuminating video! I have no use for Roblox, but I have friends with kids who use it. I’ll definitely share it with them!

Speaking about deeply, deeply unethical companies, it feels really icky to be on the same side as the Koch Group, could they maybe just not support Apple???
I had the exact same reaction!

Don’t really care about ad companies or even ads. Too many of them and too much bogus claims. Best advertising is word of mouth not stupid ads. I know AI needs ad revenue to exist but I pay an annual fee but to see them yet AI still pushes them.
To me, ads are a necessary evil for a number of industries, so I'm ok with seeing them as long as they're not too intrusive of the content.  It's the fact that companies feel it's ok to track everything I do after I've seen an ad/visited a webpage which is the problem.
I feel pretty much the same way but advertising is a field where no one knows when to stop (YouTube takes the biscuit) and they keep digging for more and more personal information.

There are times when I feel there are advertising tentacles in too many places so, while I accept it as a necessary evil to a degree, some of those tentacles are ripe for being cut off.
Maybe a hydra would be a more apt metaphor (unfortunately). Since any time you cut them off, they find more hidden, nefarious ways to track you.

  • What it took for Apple to win Best Picture at the Oscars with 'CODA'

As expected, accolades for Apple as being the "First Streaming Service to Win the Beat Picture Oscar" are rolling in. Instead the focus should be on those that contributed artistically and technically to the film. Apple merely had deep pockets that allowed them to buy the distribution rights to the movie (beating out Amazon). This is not Apple's award.
In this article, CODA is referred to as "Original Content" multiple times. Technically that is a true statement because CODA is not available to view on other outlets. But the term "original content" is misleading because it implies that Apple developed the material. They did not.
I enjoyed this movie, and I enjoy other entertainment that Apple offers on its service. But Apple's role in this situation was akin to buying an escort to accompany them to the Prom in order to be voted Prom Royalty.
I will gladly acknowledge Apple, or any other company, that financially supports a project from its inception, hires a casting director, cinematographer, screenplay writer, etc., and truly nurtures the project from beginning to end. This is not what Apple did regarding CODA.
Well-said! Give credit where credit is due.

  • T-Mobile blames Apple for iCloud Phone Relay block on iPhones

A number of carriers in Europe also blocked Private Relay for data collection reasons.

This to me seems like the most likely reason that the big 4 are complaining. The interesting thing is the complainers are UK companies (except Telefonica) and yet the UK is no longer part of the EU.

But to block Private Relay in order to collect data undermines the EU's stance on privacy as the users have no option to opt out of this.

It really does seems like the EU are the most hypocritical cow-towing governing body on the planet.
Since do independent phone companies = “the EU” ?
