  • How to instantly change text between upper, lower, and title case on a Mac

Hey all! Better than this, just use this app I made - it’s called SHOUT. It’s free, lives in your menu bar, and doesn’t collect any information. https://shout.framer.website/

For those of you who want to know why it’s called SHOUT: I frequently need to upload documents for work that require parts of it to be in full caps. And things in full caps are known to be considered shouting. So… SHOUT

    hope you all like it

  • Amazon UK will charge more for ad-free Prime Video from February

and there is no change to the current price of your Prime membership."

I don’t think Amazon understands that this statement is completely false. The price HAS changed by adding advertisements. Something that was once included at no extra cost now costs extra. So while the number itself hasn’t changed, it effectively has reduced the value of Prime because I am now paying more for less.

    Nice job Amazon…

  • Is it safe to leave your Mac plugged in and always on?

Macs actually stop charging the battery around 100% (around 80 with optimized charging) and are provided power solely from the wall adapter. So it’s perfectly fine to leave it plugged in. I’ve tested this too by looking at the cycle count over a month and it stayed the same.

  • Users lobby 1Password to abandon new Electron version

    flydog said:
SwiftUI and Electron are both unmitigated disasters, but 1Password's explanation for choosing Electron doesn't make sense since SwiftUI is not required to create universal apps. The decision was likely based on cost-cutting/laziness, and 1Password is trying to shift the blame.
SwiftUI is not a disaster. The problem is that many apps that have been here a long time already use Objective C or Swift so adding SwiftUI would be a pain because now you are adding a third language into the mix. For apps that are purely Swift, it’s not that difficult to just wrap the UIKit components to work with SwiftUI until SwiftUI is mature enough to not have a need to do that anymore. This decision to move to electron is purely based on money and laziness as you said. They don’t have to spend as much on development if they can share the same codebase, which sucks because generally doing so results in a poorer experience for everyone.
