  • iPhone 14 Plus component orders near zero, amid low demand

So then people do want smaller phones after all, huh?
    Yeah, who knows, right? LOL
But, my point is that phone sizes aren’t about sales numbers. They are use-case and ergonomics issues. So long as a particular form-factor isn’t selling so poorly it doesn’t come out to produce it (and even then, might be worth keeping in the big picture), there should be ‘mini’, regular, big, and maybe even bigger sizes. Just like there should be tiny laptops and bigger ones, or Mac mini, Studio, and Pro. (Or, trucks, cars, vans, sport cars, etc. and not just SUVs, even if they are the biggest sellers).

By Apple-logic, maybe time to cut that model, too?

Maybe they should just pick the top seller in each category of iPhone, iPad, laptop, and desktop and reduce their product grid to 4, eh?

  • Spotify posts another big operating loss, but growing subscribers

I think they thought they were going to create an ad-revenue machine by taking over podcasting. They paid a *lot* to bring some big ones as exclusives, and bought Anchor to try and get people to create new shows on the platform. The latter worked, but generated millions of ‘dead’ podcasts. The advertising didn’t work, I believe, because their listenership numbers are fairly low, besides a couple of the biggest shows. (It is speculated they had advertisers, but couldn’t deliver the ‘inventory’ of spots to place them.)

Since they’ve kind of become the enemy of the podcast industry, I hope they fail, or at least go back to focusing on music.

They were just going for numbers (which they partly achieved), and had enough ‘free’ money to spend like a drunken sailor. But, I think those days are over. Now they will have to start turning a profit and doing realistic business. They blew a ton of money trying to force their way into podcasting, and don’t have a lot to show for it (fortunately, they want to control and ruin it, it seems).

They should just stick to being a solid music streaming service, but I’m not sure their model based on that works financially.

  • Apple's Studio Display doesn't shine in the light of competition

… some of the Youtubers complaining about the monitor are sitting there with not one but two Apple XDR monitors on their desk (Brownlee?), and are complaining about the price of the Studio Display hypocrisy.
Not really hypocrisy if he’s speaking in his role of an influencer, evaluating products/markets. It certainly isn’t too expensive for him, but giving his opinion that it is too expensive for others isn’t hypocrisy. I don’t think it had to be $500 either, but it is pricier than I would have anticipated it being, given what it is.

I’d rather see them have a more base, high-quality ‘monitor for everyone’ (at least in the Apple target market), and then a ‘Studio/Pro’ version with all the bells and whistles. This kind of sits in-between, being too pricy for many Apple users, but not high-end enough for people who need to jump to the true pro option. If they made 3 models, this would be a good mid option. But, for only two, it should have been more like a 5k iMac sans Mac, IMO.
