I don't think that Intel is talking about stacking processors. Instead it sounds like stacking components e.g processor above layer of memory above I/O layer or something similar.

And even that is starting to change. My local Sheetz (Central NC) has ApplePay support for pay at the pump even.  As others have remarked sometimes i miss it because i do not notice the contactless symbol.

And there have been. for example Messaging got its own app store and all the message effects. Notes first got much richer editing functions and then later can now lockdown individual notes with a password. I'll let others debate which app is the best.
