  • Amazon has a plan to save vacant mall department stores

    "Apple could help save malls

While the decline of malls may see department stores exit in favor of Amazon distribution centers and other types of businesses, this may provide an opportunity for Apple to step in. The Apple Stores are already a highly-popular outlet, and though locations aren't as big as a typical department store, they do tend to take up a lot of floor space for the Today at Apple sessions and other elements."

I think Apple is better off investing in their own structures like Best Buy. They have attractive buildings and have more control.

Malls have been on the way out for the last decade. They were a great idea in the '50s but their time has come and gone.
Though I can't support making them into warehouses. A better idea that I've read about is converting the empty anchor tenant spaces into housing, senior housing, or lower income housing. The added local population would help the rest of the stores in the mall survive.
Convert them into Amazon drudgery centres, takes them out of the equation and the rest of the mall will continue to die.

I agree that housing is the best use of the space in malls, take a look at America's oldest shopping mall has been turned into beautiful micro-apartments on business insider. I feel Amazon is getting way too big in my opinion.

Convert malls into senior centers? I don't like that idea. The malls I've seen are located in highly commercial areas too. I don't think seniors would like that either.

I truly believe they can be saved but they have to be innovative about it. Would hate for Amazon to kill off a whole industry.

What I meant was just normal living, say apartments for anyone to rent not just senior living. I feel that malls have been dying out slowly over the years.

  • Apple Store Easter egg celebrates its 10th anniversary

Not working for me. I wonder if it’s US only?

Make sure you have the updated Apple Store application and see if it works. Version 5.9 is the latest and what I had to get as I wasn't sure if it would work in the older version.

  • How to make a bootable, external macOS Mojave install disk

Or one can use DiskMaker X,  it's free and does the job. I've been using it for years, since Lion was release in 2011.

  • Apple encourages developers to adopt subscription fee structure in new video

Yeah...they used to call those updates. No thanks on the subscription services.
Some of the most useful and productive apps have switched to subscription models. 1Password 7 is one of them. ClamXAV started out as donation ware, then became a paid app, and now version 3 is subscription. Fine and dandy but there is a limit to how many subscriptions the market will bear. I currently subscribe to Office 355, Quicken, Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Apple Music. Something's got to give. Where I may have paid up front for a single license app because I found it useful I now have to consider the budget for subscriptions before I decide. Do I really need it and is it worth paying a monthly or annual subscription? The money adds up rapidly at $10/mo. I have a feeling the subscription model is going come back and bite a lot of developers in the ass. I have already decided not to update to 1Password 7 because version 6 still works as advertised.
if you wish to get v7 of 1Password, they still have it available as a single license I believe. Just download v7 from their website: https://1password.com/downloads/ and run the installer. Once you open the application, go to File > Purchase 1Password and you'll be taken through the steps to buy a license for version 7. Hope this helps. I'm a fan of owning software rather than renting. You are correct that v6 still works but they won't support it with future updates. I was able to get a single license for v7 at a discount by applying for their beta program.

  • Apple Support app makes US App Store debut

So does this app only show visits to an Apple store? I'm currently having an issue with the TV app on my iPad. Spent over an hour on the phone with Apple support, sent them screen shots to share with Apple software engineering and this app doesn't have any record of that. It would be nice to be able to use this app to track progress of things like this.
Try tapping the head icon in the upper left corner of the app and then tap recent history. For me chat history with case IDs shows up for me and goes back to October 1, 2016.  I haven't called Apple recently so not if they show call logs too.

    Hope this helps.
