  • Wireless Apple CarPlay support included in new Pioneer dash receivers

I have the Alpine iLX-107 in my wife's car. It is awesome, and Wireless CarPlay is what all CarPlay should be! What puzzles me here is that the Alpine unit with wireless CarPlay has been out a year, has a capacitive touch screen, and cost around $700. Pioneer's equivalent is starting around $1,200, and boasts a bunch of technology that is completely obviated by CarPlay (SD, CD/DVD, SiriusXM). How many people are going to see $500 in value from the inclusion of the old tech?

  • Eric Schmidt stepping down from role as Alphabet's executive chairman

He also served on the Apple board of directors between Aug. 28 2006 and Aug.3, 2009, and stepped down to avoid any conflicts of interest  after Android had copied enough from the iPhone to really piss off Steve Jobs.

    There.  Fixed it.

  • Qualcomm brandishes Palm patents against Apple, seeks ITC ban on iPhone 8 and iPhone X

"The TouchTable patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,665,239, dates back to 2012 when AppliedMinds founders ..."

"... In particular, Hillis and Ferren developed a number of gestures that allowed users to manipulate onscreen images. Most notably, the device understood pinch-to-zoom gestures now common to Apple devices."

Now common to Apple devices?!  It was common to the iPhone in 2007, and iPad in 2010.

Likewise, Coverflow predates the Palm tile patent.  This suit is the legal equivalent of a chimp at the zoo flinging it's poo at people.  It creates a time-consuming mess, but won't accomplish anything in the end.

  • Apple updates iWork apps for Mac & iOS with new shape libraries, other enhancements

I just bumped into the limitation on print preview / page setup / margins and collaboration last week. I couldn't figure out where the menu items had gone. It didn't occur to me that sharing the document would affect basic printing functionality that was available since the birth of the Mac. A web search found other befuddled people, and that this apparently was a thing from at least 2015 when they introduced some of the collaboration stuff.

Glad to see that is now fixed.
