  • Comparing AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon's unlimited 5G wireless plans for iPhone 12

This article is myopic because it doesn’t integrate cost options from MVNOs like Comcast‘s Xfinity mobile!  Their unlimited is sub $48/mo waxes/fees out the door...
This article sets out to do exactly what it has done. While we keep an eye on them, we don't generally include MVNO options in pieces like this, because they change by the minute, can change geographically, and often have different carrier prioritizations for traffic than the parent network. We also (intentionally) didn't integrate bundles from the carrier, like Verizon FiOS and Verizon wireless.

For instance, while we did find your $47.75 offer in one geographic region, the same Comcast Xfinity mobile unlimited is $64 a month and $71 a month in two other regions that we spot-checked earlier today.

  • Former Samsung Pay heads launch new iPhone-compatible mobile payment startup

I'm not seeing this as solving any problems.
As a former business owner, I know that the magstrip tech is really old, and there was a law passed that makes it the shop's responsibility if a customer pays with a forged card using the magstrip. This is to encourage the use of NFC & chip. The fact that the magstrip is being phased out as someone mentioned above, and this device doesn't have a chip to read, makes this not a solution, but one more thing that will be unused in a few years. A lot of vendors have upgraded their terminals to contactless due to covid, that and the law about magstrips makes it unlikely it will stay around for much longer. Already a store has disabled the magstrip where I live, chip or NFC only.

Why carry something when it's duplicate tech (NFC) that I can have built into my phone? That and the fact this is a Kickstarter/Indiegogo campaign makes this a non-starter for me.

  • True Tone for MacBook Pro keyboard may use multiple LEDs

This would be nice, using a Mac with true tone in dim light the keyboard almost looks blue. Having it match the screen tone would be easier on the eyes. Although I've never understood the use of "white" light in low-light situations...

I wish AI would title these articles based on patent filings better. The caption always gives the impression that the patent is something that is set to go in the next device they release. in reality, it's just a concept they are investigating and for which they filed a patent. Many/most of them never see the light of day. Something like "apple investigating..." or "apple files patent for..." would be much more accurate.

Appleinsider needs to generate clicks, just like every other ad-supported site. Worked on both of us....
