Okay, the actual device sounds interesting. This might be fun after all.

Let’s see what app developers do with it.

  • Russia claims Apple is helping US spy on thousands of iPhone users

Apple wouldn’t have to be involved. Just intercept the shipments, insert the malware and send them on their way.

It’s been done before, classic tradecraft. And by targeting specific phones the chance of discovery is reduced.

Zero need for a mythological “back door”. Just run of the mill malware.

Heck Trump’s Chief of Staff Kelly had his phone compromised when he was Director Homeland Security

    oops. !

  • New watchOS 9.5.1 update includes bug fixes & improvements

The re indexing and basic housekeeping that takes place in the background after most OS upgrades understandably temporarily  increases power needs.

As a traveler that uses my watch and phone heavily I find it easy to just cover low power needs by carrying an Anker 5k stick for my watch (a week plus) and an Anker oh 10k pack I can charge my phone off either a cable for efficiency or MagSafe for convenience my walk around backup is an Apple MagSafe pack that just lives in a pants pocket. An instant extra 40% for my 14 pro max plus I can charge it from any usb outlet without a thought about possible datajacking however rare that might be. Batteries can’t be compromised by intrusion.

And battery packs mean no extra device weight when it’s not needed.

None of them had iPhones? How come they weren't warned that an AirTag was following them?

Or does an AirTag have to following someone for a very long time before the warning happens?
It takes 8-24 hours before they start chirping and it’s not that loud.
The chirping is irrelevant when you get a notifcaiotn on your device, hence his comment about none of them not owning an iPhone.

Unknown item displayed on map in Find My app on iPhone
And the duration of the sound delay?

AN AppleInsider article said 3 days. “But you will not miss the sound that the AirTag makes. Currently it waits three days before it starts sounding an alert, but Apple could change that time at any point.”
Was that article from 2021? I seem to recall that Apple updated it to 8 to 24 hours, as dkouns statedthe next year.
Yes which is why I added to my post after I couldn’t find anything else stating the duration. Even 8 hours would give law enforcement a big response window for a robbery. Less of course for someone , say, who doesn’t notice their car is gone from their driveway or street.
