  • 'iPhone 13' to launch in September with A15, bigger batteries, researchers say

I wear gloves a LOT more than I wear a mask. And with the mask recognition entering my passcode into my iPhone 12 max pro takes a moment.

As to battery? Meh. I carry an Apple MagSafe pack and never charge my 12 max pro over 80% or let it drop much below 20% (previously it was a small Anker and a cable, this is so much better). Today my battery just ticked down to 96%. Oh and I also avoid anything like fast charging as that cramming power is abusive to Li batteries. Pesky chemistry.

Wouldn’t a 12 Mini still be under the initial 12 month warranty? Meaning a new battery is free?

    iPhone Owners

Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery service. Prices and terms may vary”

  • Police, GreyShift struggle to keep iPhone unlocking tool purchases secret

What will phone access provide? Cell tower pings locating a phone in the vicinity of a crime scene at the time it occurred is attainable with a routine warrant.

Odds of the suspect having “commit crime 9/22/2021, 2-3 P. M, include travel time to the scene” is effectively zero. Those crazed Jan 6 lynch mob participants aside, and most of their confessions were in Facebook not their todo lists. The FBI very loudly demanded iPhone access for the San Bernardino terrorists: when they very expensively got in; nothing.

Lots of cops it seems have gotten very lazy: gather up the magic phones and sit on their hands whining they can’t solve crime unless it’s handed to them on a platter. A handy scapegoat for not doing their job.

  • Why you should buy Apple's MagSafe battery pack

A fairly standard day and I’m at 73% charge on my 12 Max pro after 100% at 3 A. M.  Per the battery report in settings. (I rarely charge full and expect that’s why here I am with 99% battery health with a phone I got the week it was available.

So a convenient backup like this sounds good. No cables and such like with my Anker packs. And a very reasonable extra capacity.

  • New York State Senate passes right to repair legislation

An Indiana  state legislature once unanimously passed a bill to set Pi to an even 3.2. It did get hung in the other chamber. Politicians? Not the best mix with tech.

[How’s our Forest Service doing in that Moon orbit adjustment to possibly fight climate change as suggested by a member of Congress?]

but hey? Okay, at which point all claims against Apple for anything about that “repaired” device are voided.

  • Group SMS issues plague iPhone 12 upgraders

    Sarkany said:
Haven’t experienced this issue with the iPhone 12 mini. What I have an issue with is how the Lock Screen seems unresponsive to touch most of the time, as if calibration was off.
Take it in to get it checked.
