  • Spotify buys podcast discovery platform Podz as war with Apple heats up

“Ok Spotify, where’s the lossless audio?”

Spotify: *throws smoke bomb* Nevermind that, look at what we’re doing with podcasts!”

Very nice indeed….is the battery case charging wirelessly??
    No usb-c.

No mention I can see of which what the chip is, but I assume H1
There was mention in the article. This thing does NOT use any Apple chip (H1 or otherwise). It says Beats is using their own chip. This means there is no instant pairing with Apple devices, no iCloud syncing between devices, no automatic switching, and I’m guessing no ability to use spatial audio. I have no idea why they did this, this is a complete deal-breaker for me, and I’m guessing many many others.
Agreed. Huge L if I can’t use Spatial Audio. I’ve been using my Powerbeats Pros just to use that feature and it’s incredible.

  • Apple TV+ drama 'Invasion' gets trailer, debuts October 22

Violent aliens invade, what an original story. Perhaps a bit too much projection?

Will most likely watch because sci-fi is so rare, even rarer are good, original sci-fi productions. Just would like to see some variation on the same theme already done many times over.
There are PLENTY of sci-fi movies where the aliens “invade” and aren’t big scary monsters here to destroy us. Happy to provide a list. Do you want them to stop making this sub-genre completely? If so, that’s a different argument. But to imply that this is the only thing that we get in the genre, is false. As for the quality, nobody knows because it’s not out, but the creators behind it deserve some benefit as The Martian was fantastic.

  • Apple Music activates Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio content

It’s up and functioning. Apple TV connected to an Atmos-capable system decodes it into true Atmos surround. iPhone plays surround on AirPods Pro.

The quick Mono to Stereo to Spatial demo in the Made for Spatial playlist is a good starting point if you’re not sure what this is all about.
It's really unfortunate the Apple TV doesn't support Hi-Res Lossless.
It’s really unfortunate that you think they aren’t going to address that in an update. “Apple TV 4K does not currently support hi-res lossless”. Keyword: “currently”. They will. For now, you’ll just have to listen to music on your tv (?) and get plain old regular lossless.

Live on my phone. I might cry. Never thought I’d see the day. Goodbye to the 3 apps I use because of their lossless features.
