  • Editorial: Can Apple News+ kill 'fake news' and save journalism?

Apple saved music with iTunes because the ripping of music was a known illegal activity.  And the price worked out by Steve Jobs was a good price.  Ninety nine cents per song made sense versus being forced to buy full albums.  Win/win for customers and artists.

Magazines are so lame these days they can't be given away.  And that is when they do it legally online.  Most are political and their politics is very unattractive.  So who wants lame politics dressed up in a fancy graphical cover or with the NYT logo?  And Apple is likely to exclude political opinions it finds unacceptable, which means it will exclude what half the population wants.   I don't think Apple will exhibit a hearty appreciation of the wide open expression of ideas from across the spectrum. More likely it will be like Facebook and Twitter which censor voices that don't fit the liberal template.  If Apple does that with Apple News it will not be a big success or even a good product.

  • Editorial: Latest IDC estimate of Q1 2019 iPhone sales 'highly inaccurate' to the point of...

Disinformation from IDC, a "credible news source" about Apple sales.   Amazing that lies are put out and repeated over and over as the truth.   Kind of like "Russian collusion".  It's amazing how many lies are accepted at face value with zero critical thinking and actual facts to support the claim.   Usually, its enough to just repeat the lie over and over - IDC or your favorite news source - and the lie replaces the truth.  And then becomes the truth.

  • Publishers complaining about 'atrocious' revenues from Apple News

Why would anyone want news selected by Apple? There is no demand for this. Particularly when Apple is not objective and completely open with respect to news. Apple has a political agenda and its pre-selected sources reflect that bias. Most people have the wherewithal to get the news from the sources they deem reliable without the screening of a Big Brother tech company.

  • Apple in 2019: surviving iPhone challenges like the 1990s Microsoft

Excellent article.  DED is the only tech journalist I am aware of who sees the reality amidst an ocean of fake news about Apple.  Everyday I read stories explaining how Apple is doomed because it owns the worldwide smartphone market - both consumer and enterprise - with the highest priced and highest margin and highest corporate profit in the industry - and this will doom Apple, according to the expert journalists because apparently Apple makes such great products nobody will every need a new phone.

Thank you Daniel for a great piece explaining the reality and providing some needed relief to shareholders.

  • Apple's guidance correction in China would be great news from Samsung

Excellent article.   Very much needed.   Apple does have faults but the financial media is having a field day spreading fear and misinformation about Apple.   It is hard to keep a focus on the core issues - very strong earnings with a very low stock price relative to earnings, dominance in all the markets Apple competes in, with the exception of streaming services/content and home automation.  Even in those they may be the profit leader.   Thank you Daniel for explaining how the trade conflict with China is hurting Apple without editorializing too broadly about the policy.   I think there is agreement across party lines that China has for decades been operating as a criminal enterprise outside of the generally accepted rules of the WTO for international trade.  The US is the only country that can possibly get China to respect normal business practices.

This article should be required reading for all business reporters.  Sadly, most of the facts presented would be news to them.   Like many news reporters these day they operate not to report the truth, but instead to project a narrative that somebody has decided is necessary to achieve political purposes.   So, the truth is a victim.
