  • Crash testing popular MagSafe car vent mounts for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

    Test methodic is incorrect.
Actual car has cramped zones which soften an impact even at low speed.
In your case it’s a hard impact with much higher g value
Our impact surface isn't fully hard. We could have run it into a rock. The wood has a bit of give and flexes so it softens the impact a bit. Secondly, this is super slow. 9.5 MPH whereas most car crashes occur at 25 MPH. So even if this has a "higher g value" at 10 MPH, it would show it could withstand higher speeds in an actual accident.

Really, the point here is which one is strongest. We put them through the same test to see which one(s) would hold on. It isn't a perfect recreation of a car accident but we can conclusively say which ones are stronger than which other ones.

  • Native Union Snap 2-in-1 magnetic charging stand review: An Apple user's companion

What is the deal with third party “MagSafe” chargers? why is everyone but Belkin just making them 7.5w Qi chargers with magnets added instead of real 15w MagSafe charging?
The issue is because of sourcing parts from Apple. Third-parties cannot get the official MagSafe module and that is the only one capable of the 15W speeds. Even Belkin is struggling and has come out with more magnetic mounts and chargers that are just Qi instead of official MagSafe. Not sure if it is a chip shortage on Apple’s end or what but it is frustrating.

That said, Native Union has done a ton of work here and this charges about as fast as real MagSafe because magsafe can get so hot.

  • iPhone 13 Pro & iPhone 13 Pro Max review: Exceptional phones but the Pro Max underwhelms

Nope, not everyone. I always went for the larger one because I wanted more on my screen. THAT is a big reason people buy it. There is zoomed display mode that can make icons and the interface larger on all the iPhones, including the iPhone 13 or iPhone 13 Pro. Users can get the same size icons without a larger device. I want MORE on my screen and there’s plenty of empty space not being used.

Some of y’all need to wrap kerosene dipped rags around your ankles to keep the ants away from your candy asses. In my opinion, this year’s pro max is the best yet. The increase in weight and thickness is negligible. The increase in battery life is profound. I think this article is a little unfair to the pro max and I disagree with the author’s wish for size and weight deductions. The technology is where it is in history and I love the direction Apple went in order to get the significant improvement in performance. Everyone is welcome to disagree with me, this is just my opposing opinion.
I don’t want size a size deduction and I say that the weight increase isn’t substantial, but I’d prefer if it weighed less. I think that’s fair.

My issue with the Pro Max is that Apple doesn’t take advantage of that display. Put more information in the larger notches like the battery percentage. Allow split-screen apps. I’ve exclusively bought the “plus” or “max” phones and this is the year I’ve finally had enough. The max phone is AMAZING but it should do more. Apple is phoning it in here — no pun intended. With that massive battery, put bidirectional wireless charging on the max phone, allow a special keyboard with an extra utility row. And do more with widgets. With a larger screen, you dont think Apple could do *anything* exclusive to that phone? I love the phone, but doesnt mean Im not going to call out Apple for not doing enough with it.

  • Hands on with the new features of iPhone 13 Pro Max

Hold on, the 12 Pro Max had a 5x zoom and the new one has only 3x?  That can’t be right …
Hey David, thanks for the quick catch for me here. Let me clear things up.

    iPhone 12: No tele lens
iPhone 12 Pro: 2X tele lens
iPhone 12 Pro Max 2.5X tele lens
    iPhone 13: No tele lens
iPhone 13 Pro: 3X tele lens
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 3X tele lens

This gives iPhone 12 Pro Max a 5X optical zoom range from all the way out to all the way zoomed in and the iPhone 13 Pro/13 Pro Max a 6X optical zoom range. Things just got muddled during the editing process and it slipped through.
