Apple should keep Lightning for now, but USB-A has to die
buttesilver said:USB-C (TB3) has been a letdown for me. The ports or the cables get loose way faster than any other connector I've ever used. It's nice to have unidirectional plug-in, but on all my babied devices, the connectors are hit and miss. Not well developed. And I'm not sure how you'd fix it, but I have a number of devices I either need to get new cables for, or figure out a way to "fatten" the plugs to make them tighter...
This is a super specific scenario, but I have a 20TB LaCie drive connected to my Mac, but it provides only a tiny amount of power over Thunderbolt 3. Even with power coming in, while working, my battery actually goes down, yet the charging indicator says charging. I always have to keep a second power cable plugged in, but when it dislodges just slightly and stops charging, I don't get a notification because the hard drive provides a tiny trickle of power. Then, my computer will abruptly shut off when it inevitably runs out of juice. Very frustrating to this day! -
Funcl W1 and AI truly wireless earphones are a steal

Review: Apple's Smart Keyboard Folio is the best option for the iPad Pro, but has too many...
sdw2001 said:I have to say, I'm disappointed in this review. I don't own the product, but the review itself seems overly harsh and based on nothing but personal preference. It's fine to say you preferred the old configuration for the keyboard, but to give the product 2.5/5 stars? Literally every single "con" of the review (for which I assume it was marked down) is a pet peeve. Does the product function well? Does it perform as advertised? Is it priced correctly? Does it have any bugs? How does it feel? That's what it would be based on...not personal preference.
I think you criticisms are completely fair. They are personal preferences, but I think those matter greatly. When I say I really enjoy typing on this keyboard other reviewers may hate it. That’s a personal preference. As is how it feels. My criticisms come from a lot of use of this product, more so than most other reviewers out there who solely use the keyboard during a brief review period. These criticisms can be make or break for some people. After using the previous Smart Keyboard about every day for two years, this new model has me looking for new options. I’d consider that relevant for a review. -
Even with all the improvements to the iPad Pro, it still can't replace my Mac yet
DAalseth said:I've moved about 3/4 of my work to my iPP. I'm very pleased at the gains in ability and I can see the day when I will use my last Mac. It might even be my two year old iMac. But I'm not there today.
You mentioned several times about adding mouse support. No, just no. I direct you to this article:
https://techpinions.com/the-pencil-is-mightier-than-the-mouse/53995
In it the author argues that a mouse is just a precision pointing device and the Apple Pencil 2 with the added features and gestures IS the mouse for the iPad. I already use my AP on my year old iPP as my mouse more and more of the time. This is only going to get better. But, and I say this as someone who a year ago thought that the iPad DID need a mouse, the LAST thing we need on an iPad is a pointing device from the last century. It's time to move on. -
Review: New Tile Mate and Tile Pro with replaceable batteries, premium subscription plan
JustAnotherLonelyVoice said:considering the praise and the video, why only 3.5 out of 5?
Compared to the previous Sport and Style, the new Pro feels quite a bit cheaper and lighter. They are also slightly bigger than the past models.
Many features that other trackers include for free are now behind the paywall of a subscription.
Lastly, they are still somewhat expensive, actually raising prices over the older modes (which is slightly compensated for with replaceable batteries).
In short, they are excellent Bluetooth trackers -- probably the best you can get -- but they have their downsides. Totally worth picking up, but not a slam dunk.
