Why do you need messages in iCloud?
I think it syncs better across devices.
The only difference between Apple Cloud and iCloud for iMessages, is that you may need to pay for iCloud for iMessages now while in the good old days you don’t.
Not at all true. Not even close. Before if you delete a message on your iPhone, it doesn't get deleted on your Mac. Same in reverse. Same goes for entire conversations. Before, which mind you is still around, you don't have to use Messages in iCloud, the only that happened was any incoming message would go to all devices. That is it. There was no synchronization.

Additionally, it saves a Ludacris amount of space. I had over 36 GB of storage taken up by messages on my iPhone and also on my Mac. By using this, that goes to almost nothing. Between Messages in iCloud, and iCloud Photo Library, I don't need such a large amount of storage on my phone.

Lastly, it keeps everything in check when you go to a new device. I don't usually restore new devices from a backup, instead, I just sign into iCloud. Now when I do that, my entire message history comes along.

Maybe dumb question but I noticed messages in the cloud said synced across all iPhones, iPads and Macs, so does that mean Apple Watch isn’t included? I’m a little OCD so I don’t like having tons of convos in my Messages app and deleting them one by one on the Apple Watch is like death by a thousand paper cuts. In the process of updating all my devices now.
Correct, it currently doesn’t work with Apple Watch yet.

My old Audyssey East Side Dock speaker still working using Airplay after update to 11.4. I am unsure whether it can mesh with the new HomePod speakers from Apple.
We will have more info later detailing the specifics, but basically, you can 100% still stream to AirPlay speakers, same as before.

What happens is there are two types of speakers that show under AirPlay. Original AirPlay speakers (where you can only cast to one at a time), and AirPlay 2 speakers where you can cast to many at once.

The designator will be the small circle to the right of the speaker. If it has a circle, you can select multiple. No circle, only one at a time. Unless Audyssey updates the East Side Dock Speaker to AirPlay 2, you will only be able to play to it by itself.

How much data does this collect? How much do they phone home? Remember: you are their product.
Nothing. This app collects and transmits no data. In this case, you aren't their product. You are paying $.99 for the product, no strings attached.

  • Logitech debuts Magnetic Mount for Circle 2 HomeKit-enabled cameras

Right. Magnetic mount for surveillance camera. That is an innovative idea. For GoPro on car it could be good, but for surveillance... Good luck. Install it on the roof out of reach once hands. Also at home I would need to find "magnetic 2x4". So the question is: What is the puprose of that camera? Bedroom activity? Childroom activity and safety? Next: Suction cups mount for surveillance camera to mount it in shower and restroom on tiles.
Many other popular cameras use magnetic mounts. Take the Arlo system for instance.

Obviously, don't put it a face-level on your front door where any passerby could walk away with it. But a rain gutter above your garage pointed at your driveway? Sure thing. Inside, it allows you to attach it to stuff without putting holes in your wall, either using the included mounting plate or on metal surfaces. In my home, I have this on the side of my fridge which directly points it at my front door. Great solution without having to damage my walls. Regardless of where it is mounted inside, if someone wanted to destroy the camera, they could. Whether it is on your fridge or screwed into the wall. It is straight up meant to be easily removable from the base so a magnetic mount doesn't change that, other than being more convenient to the user.
