It seems Apple figured that since I wasn’t holding my breath anymore it would resolve a metric ton of my concerns in one release. Proof of the pudding and all that but in the end this is a hugely positive sign and step for the iPad in my use case hopes. 

My biggest outstanding complaints will probably be how locked down/controlled the experience remains. It is still quite frustrating to use many apps on the iPad compared to how I use them on my Mac or other systems (I run Linux and Windows as well as macOS) and that may continue to be the case: for example iPad apps as mere containers of websites.

I feel mildly less idiotic for having decided the iPad isn’t worth it and then buying an M4 iPad Pro anyhow…

35% Tencent. While sizeable, it’s not the largest shareholder. Tim Sweeney remains that with 41.4%. Disney and Sony are also sizeable shareholders.

Otherwise agreed. To get me to pay outside of Apple has been difficult for anyone outside of Steam and streaming.

That said, I don’t think that the margins of 30% for App Store sales is tenable. It is what the market bears because it’s pretty standard in all things but it’s a holdover from physical store days and makes little sense. Somewhere between 20 and 25% seems more reasonable.

Some of his claims have merit but the guy is an a**. There are a ton of ways that Apple can and should be brought to account but Tim Sweeney’s case was as flimsy as his cynicism is solid. May his losses accrue…

I am content that this is happening so rapidly! While I’m still getting my ducks in a row for my eventual move into development, including picking up a VisionPro (gen 2 perhaps), this news is exciting: the broader the support that exists in ways to code apps for the VisionPro the more likely it is to become useful to me and to others. Software inertia is very much a thing…

I have had issues streaming to my AppleTV from my iPad. Perhaps this stabilizes things. Not that it’s designed to, but weird things break and unbreak in some of these updates…
