Nearly nobody uses the Apple (Magic) Mouse - soon MacBook users will need to attach an external keyboard to type efficiently???
Sounds like a very bad idea - I would prefer the MacBook Pro to get a little bit thicker to get more space for key movement...
But hey - at least it will look gorgeous...

No way. Competing on price is a losing game.

I don't think they need to compete (= match the price of the competition).
But the problem is, the new models just got more expensive than ever and a small device is missing at all. The XR is nice (I own one) but quite big and heavy.
They definitely need a successor for the iPhone SE.

I had the keyboard (and with it the top case and batteries) replaced once under warranty.

After three months the cursor down key is unreliable (when not hit exactly in the middle) again.

Unfortunately Apple seems considering (patent) going to a touch keyboard - I don't have any interest in toy computers (and being as unproductive as on an iPad)...
