    The current design of the App Store does not work well with more than 1 million apps available.

    It was better when iTunes was available on the desktop featuring an app section and product categories were more prominent.

    Now it is driven by search (which does not work well) and ads which are on top income for Apple.

    I'm a bit confused as to why Apple would be so against this when they already have a ready-to-go service (that they voluntarily developed themselves) that would scan for such images while keeping end-to-end encryption intact.

    1. Everyone freaks out that Apple staff will be looking at every photo that they take — which is not true.
    You missed the point – Apple had developed technology (not Apple staff) that was supposed to analyse images in iOS 15. Massive protest prevented Apple to introduce this technology and it was until iOS 16 for Apple to declare that this technology would not be used.

    I am also mad about it and decided not to buy Diablo for my PlayStation, so I will skip Diablo IV if Blizzard does not change its mind and does a Mac port...

    Side loading works great on the Mac as long as you only load software with a valid developer certificate. I expect the same on iOS. If you believe that the App Store protects you from malware you are just wrong. The App Store review process is great to enforce the rules defined by Apple on how apps should behave and on content restrictions, but any well hidden malware would not be detected.

    I really like my old iPad 6 for surfing the web on the couch and answering mails.
    But: To do serious work a touch screen interface is not what I want and in addition to that my work system will never be a closed platform (although iOS / iPadOS may be forced to be opened for 3rd party app stores etc. in the next two years).
