  • Apple earned over $100 million from 'Fortnite' [u]

Is there a reasonable rationale for Apple not being entitled to the commission?
Well, I think it's not about that someone get a commission, but that there is only one possible channel (the Apple AppStore) that dictates the commission. Since there are only two platforms (Android and iOS) this is treated as a monopoly.

  • Epic Games expert says iOS could be like macOS without security drawbacks

Apple should allow alternative App Stores, so it's the user who decides from where to download software.
I believe that 90% of the software would be exactly the same (3rd party vs Apple App Store) but maybe cheaper when bought not from Apple.
The remaining 10% may provide (legal) content that Apple does not like.
Remember: protection from viruses does not come from the App Store but from iOS itself - so it is possible to integrate 3rd party stores in a way that apps installed from there follow the same technical restrictions (for security) as apps installed from Apple's App Store.

  • Apple debuts colorful 24-inch iMac with M1, upgraded camera and audio

I like the design and the Touch ID keyboard but I dislike only having 8 / 16 GB memory options and the lack of expansion.

  • Apple cuts App Store commission to 15% for developers paid less than $1M per year

This is a good move - I hope it will not be compensated by higher prices for Apple Search Ads (that many developers use to get their apps found). It would be definitely good if Apple would specify their income from the App Store and Search Ads in the quarterly results!

  • Apple One fails to solve issues with multiple Apple IDs

Never understood the need or desire for multiple Apple IDs. I have had the same, single Apple ID since day one. To this day users login to their iPhone or Mac with a different Apple ID than the one they used to purchase music or videos and wonder why that content is not showing up. The bitching is constant.
Some companies let their employees use company iPhones also as private phones - this employees use their company Apple ID (with company credit card) to buy work stuff and their private Apple ID for private stuff. I have more than one friend who struggles with multiple Apple IDs...
One aspect of why Apple is reluctant to merge or let people inherit Apple IDs is contracts. When you buy a physical cd or piece of software you can pass it to your descendants. I am not sure what contacts between customers and Apple and between Apple and the music industry say to this...
