  • Apple's Lisa Jackson talks sustainability, environmental justice in new interview

It's unbelievable that people keep pushing this nonsense, and particularly abhorrent that Apple is wasting money on carbon offsets. Shameful. We are at geologically-speaking, rock bottom levels of CO2, which is literally the building block of life. If anything, we should be pumping as much CO2 into the atmosphere as possible, not reducing it. Most plants are optimized for a CO2 level of 800-1200ppm, and we're at a paltry 400ppm, just slightly above the minimum level needed to sustain plant life (170ppm IIRC). According to NASA, the earth is greener today that it has been since we started recording it with satellites. This is not just because CO2 is gaseous plant fertilizer, but because higher CO2 confers drought resistance by minimizing H2O loss through the plant stoma, which loses H2O when it necessarily opens to obtain the CO2 it needs.

Infantile garbage. Simple fact-check for dummies: The time scale you are showing is from the beginning of life on earth. Why? Because you won’t show the carbon build-up in the last 100 years. Why not? Because it is alarming. What happened to all that CO2 in your graph? It was absorbed by carbon life forms (the clue is in the name) that died and were buried underground over billions of years. What has happened to all that carbon since the industrial revolution? We have been burning it and putting it back into the atmosphere as CO2.

We literally have all the answers to questions at our fingertips. You’ve got a question… type it into Wikipedia, get the answer. Where’s the problem? Before, it took a trip to your local library to look it up in an encyclopaedia. Tiresome. You want to know…  is the earth round? Do scientists approve of vaccines? What is Area 51? Any sh*t… It’s not a mystery anymore. There is no controversy about the earth being round, except amongst the ignorant and liars. In my opinion, to tell a “lie,” or to be a “liar” includes people (like you) who refuse to be informed, or do the tiniest amount of fact-checking, and spread (politically inspired and corporate-originating) lies on forums like this.

    Whataboutism.
More like hypocrisy Alex. Pretty much a dictionary example of it.

Comments about that story remarked on how the price is pretty modest for that area. A million pounds wont get you a shoebox in parts of London. Do you expect Tim Cook to live in a trailer park, like the rest of your workforce? “Hypocrisy” is the last resort for those who have nothing left to say on the matter.

“American politics is a freak show.” Someone said to me. The worst of all late-capitalism scenarios. Hyper-capitalist state with two political parties at each other’s throats. Both utterly corrupt, one pot calling the other black. One side awash in disinformation and lies: pushing voter disenfranchisement (disgraceful); preposterous Q-anon kak; science denialism (denying climate science, medical science, biology and palaeontology (evolution), history (bible history, black history) etc. etc.); washed-up libertarianism (debunked economics-for-dummies); laughable exceptionalism. A fabulously-wealthy nation; half-a-million sleep on the street; one third lives paycheck-to-paycheck; terrible health care outcomes; blatant drug price gouging you can’t solve; virtual police state with the highest incarceration rate in the world; not to mention murderous cops. The solution? Cut taxes, make the wealthy wealthier—it’ll work, hand on heart! Conservative voters hate their own party so much that they voted for that dumbass. Is that representative politics?

The upshot of it all is that the rest of us have to suffer your idiotic “up-is-down,” “black-is-white,” “the-sun-rises-in-the-west” nonsense on internet forums like this one.

Good, I hope it’s true. Anyone that has any sanity left should be opposed to this bill, for many reasons, climate nonsense being just one. Climate is purely a political issue and a way to manipulate economies. Even if you failed grade school science and somehow believe that extremely low levels of gaseous plant fertilizer is somehow bad for the planet, the political efforts to reduce CO2 do nothing.

The graphic that you shared thoroughly undermines your comment. The scientific conclusions are clear, human-induced climate change will be devastating.

And pray tell: just how do “they” manipulate economies? Did fossil fuels not forever alter economies? Or, are you a Saudi, desperately worried about the future of your despotic little petro-kingdom?
