  • Installation rate for iOS 12 slightly trailing iOS 11 in first 48 hours after release

I generally wait a couple hours, because the Fandroids at some other sites will be all over any little issue and posting all their hate everywhere. You can't miss it.

But I installed the Public Beta a couple weeks ago as it was well stable by then and it's been problem free sense then.

Actually I'm surprised it's not being downloaded like crazy. It's the first iOS version in quite some time that is quite Stable right from the start, and in what I don't think has ever happened in a past iOS version, it runs faster on your older hardware!!! You really can't ask for a better iOS update!!! It also supports more older devices than ever before.

What could people possibly be waiting for at this point? GO GET IT NOW!!!!!! It's great on my iPad,and it's great on my iPhone 6. Though I am upgrading this year to a XS as I upgrade every 4 years.
Yet their knockoffs never receive updates. I've actually heard these idiots argue that "Apple sucks because they update their software".....

"Actually I'm surprised it's not being downloaded like crazy."

Actually it is. 10% in 48 hours is phenomenal. It's just Apple so we get used to phenomenal record-breaking numbers.

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9 blows up in purse, victim sues

Seriously, this is just ridiculous. Out of millions sold, one is defective and she's suing to stop the sales?!?! It's like saying that one case of food poisoing is documented therefore the entire supply of said food should be stopped. It has to be thoroughly investigated to see if there's evidence of a supply being defective or dangerous before it can be stopped. Those kind of accidents happen no matter what.
Now Sammy gets a taste of what its like to be Apple. They've wanted to be all these years so here!

Samsung are to blame for the phone going on fire but not for her inability to backup her contacts or the bag that she threw the phone in instead of throwing it on the floor.

But she's too blame for buying a cheap iPhone knockoff.

  • Withings Steel HR Sport is firm's first release opposing Apple Watch after Nokia sale

Why are these companies even trying?

I would rather team up with apple at this point than try to take down the Apple Watch behemoth.

Maybe Withings can create bands or apps for Apple Watch.

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook to appear on 'Good Morning America,' visits SoHo Apple store

"iPhone 8 started at $699, XR starts at $749."

To Apple's credit, during the keynote Schiller compared the XR to the 8 Plus.  Last year, the 8 Plus started at $799 so from that perspective the XR has dropped in price by $50.  But I agree with the rest of the lineup.  In a mature market, when  YoY growth and user-base growth is at best slowing and at worst stagnant, plus the fact that upgrade cycles are getting longer, you try to extract as much as you can from whatever user-base you have, of course without pissing them off.  Whether you agree or not with that tactic is up to you.
I get why Schiller made the comparison to the Plus. I get that Apple can argue why the prices are what they are. But the bottom line is the prices have gone up, for all the reasons you suggest. I guess we’ll see if this strategy works long term. At some point it’s going to be difficult for prices to keep going up.
Not a good comparison on XR when it's closer to the XS than the iPhone 8 was to iPhone X.

iPhone X was such a new category that iPhone 8 felt like last years model where XR and XS share many of the same specs/features etc.
