For iPads, Apple has a lot of catching up to do with the software. It really should be priority number 1 to get iPadOS to be competitive to PC operating systems.

Why?  An iPad is an iPad.  For what it is designed to be, it’s great.  It is an easy to use and SIMPLE tablet computer.  It is not, never has been, and never will be a PC.  That’s what a Mac is for and Apple has stated this numerous times.  Again, if you want all the PC features, go buy a Mac.  Why do you want the iPad to be a PC?  They are two distinctively different products. 

Why would they?  FaceID is faster, more secure, easier, superior in every regard and has been since the iphoneX.  Apple has said as much in plain English and that is what I have personally observed since upgrading to the iPhone XS in 2018.  The only reason to use touchID now is if it’s a significantly cheaper component (hence keep it in value phones).

My 256GB unlocked Space Black 14 Pro, ordered at 10:00 am Central on pre-order Day 1, has just in the last 24 hrs gone into a “preparing to ship” status.

If you have an iPhone 11 or older I’d stay with iOS15.  I currently have an XS and should not have upgraded to iOS 15 last year.  That marked the end of it being a fast, “snappy” phone.  Still usable but the overall experience went down the toilet.  Crashing apps, lagging keyboard and “jitter” throughout the animations of the operating system.

I have an iPhone14 Pro on order and will not be upgrading it beyond iOS18 based on the above experience.

Echoing what the two folks above said.  Also there was very little improvement after the 3GS if this visualization is to be believed.
