  • Apple CEO Tim Cook buys Southern California mansion for $10.1M

Actually a very modest (presumably vacation) home for a guy in Cook’s position.  It is less than 1% of his net worth and for him the equivalent of a person with a 213k net worth (median for 55-64 years old) buying a house for $1,491.

  • iPhone 13 review roundup: Great cameras, incredible battery life

Off topic from this article, I know but man I wish I hadn't updated my XS to ios15.  What smoothness remained in this device is now gone.
If a reset/restore doesn't fix it, go back to 14.8 before Apple stops signing it.
    Thanks, I'll try this.

I have an XS but have not yet updated to iOS 15. Could you please provide a little more detail as to the negative effects you are experiencing?
I would say that about 10% of the time I close an app, there is a weird little hitch/pause of dropped frames in the animation.  Also it occasionally drops frames when swiping through home pages.  But overall the device just doesn't feel as snappy.  Not exactly slow, but no longer fast.  Hope that makes sense!

  • Apple employees ask for more flexible remote work options

I returned to the office full time only a week ago and see both sides.  At the end of the day Apple is signing their checks.  They didn’t build a multi-billion dollar campus that promotes in person collaboration only to permanently shift  to remote work.  The hybrid approach is more than I got and seems like a fair middle ground.  At the end of the day it is a free country and those who want to continue working from home have the ability to take their talents elsewhere (considering it myself).

  • WWDC expected to bring Safari, Health, Maps, iMessage improvements

I’m all for updates to the referenced apps but “making the walls higher” is a stretch.  The OS smoothness, security, overall lack of bugs, 5 years of support, and design/quality of hardware is what “locks me in”.
