  • Macs 'partially affected' by unpatchable Thunderbolt security exploit

An Apple computer running Windows or Linux can be compromised, not a Mac. A Mac is an Apple computer running MacOs.
    Total abject rubbish.

A Mac is a Intel based computer capable of running OSX, Windows or Linux. What makes it a Mac is some very specific hardware that OSX is ideally suited to take advantage of.

That said, just like computers from Dell, Lenovo etc. the Mac is capable of running other non Apple written operating systems.

  • MI5 head wants 'exceptional access' to encrypted communications

Let's pretend Apple does this. Since we're now firmly in imagination land, let's pretend Google, Facebook, and all the other major players also do this.

Great. Now what? What's to stop global terrorists using an encryption app that's not backdoored? This will end up a perpetual game of wack-a-mole where only the innocent lose out.

So, what's really the point? I can't help but feel that all this is not to spy on terrorists, but on us. Pretty sure MI5, the CIA, Mossad et al all know that terrorists will up their game, so what's the real reason for this? Is this nothing more than a Trojan horse?

  • Google developing all-in-one messaging app for businesses

I used Slack on a dev project and wasn’t blown away - I assume Google will do it properly - good luck to them
Your assumption may well be horribly misplaced given Google's track record.

Their communication app history is a bloody diabolical mess and littered with a history of shutting services down.

  • Apple sued over atrial fibrillation optical sensor in Apple Watch

Methinx the good doctor is about to undergo a valuable lesson in the huge cavernous difference between filing a patent and actually having a valid one.

These devices have been around for yonks - I know 'cause my a-fib was monitored using one way back in the late 90s.

Prior art is gonna kick this one to the curb.

My Card has been 100% A-OK since day one. Listen if you want to be that person who constantly thinks the sky is falling, then please, be my guest. But don’t assume that every incident is representative of a wider issue.
