In order for those ports to do “everything” you have to attach “ugly” dongles to them. 

There is no chance of Metal being an industry standard. It’ll just be the standard for Mac. Like in every other case when a developer has to choose between allocating resources for Mac specific APIs or Windows, guess which will get the lion’s share?

When OSX first came out Apple hitched their wagon to true industry standards. Over time they have reverted to making Apple centric alternatives. Even if they make a half hearted attempt at making them open, the adoption outside of apple isn’t there. I don’t expect this to be any different.

All I hope is that the right result comes out the other end.

Each state has its own government and generally does its own investigation. Their findings/decisions only affect that state. Although sometimes they team up. It seems like some will team up and do a group investigation in this case.

This is all separate from the Federal government which can do its own investigation as well.

A lot of this has to do with next year's elections imo.
