  • LeBron James seemingly spotted with unannounced 'Beats Studio Buds'

Geez this guy is worse than Lil Wayne. Samsung pays him to use Sammy products and he accidentally advertises Apple more than Sammy.
He's not accidentally advertising Apple.  James still has an endorsement deal with Beats.  He even had a small stake in Beats when Apple acquired it.  Afaik, he doesn't have exclusivity deals with Apple or Samsung.  It's not like his Pepsi (new) - Coke (old) deal.

  • Apple starts selling PlayStation DualSense controller

Worth noting if batteries are your concern, all XBox controllers have a user accessible battery slot and take standard AAs. I use Eneloop rechargeables with mine.
Yep.  AA's or rechargeable battery pack.  Never really have to worry about a dead controller no matter where you are.

  • HBO Max announces $9.99 ad-supported streaming

Paying for ads would suck for me.  Having HBO Max a bit cheaper at the cost of watching a few ads?  For some it would make sense.  With all the streaming options out there and the increased content hoarding by IP holders... to create more streaming options, cost can ad up quickly.  Everybody has to do a cost benefit analysis to decide what's best for them.

Fortunately for me I have AT&T Internet 1000 so HBO Max is free.  ATV+ is free from Apple.  So is Amazon Prime from, well Amazon.   Hulu is grandfathered free through Sprint.  I got the 3 year deal on Disney+.  Netflix is the only reoccurring bill I have for streaming which might change now that Sprint merged with TMob.  I just haven't gone down the path of figuring out if I can have the free Netflix from TMob along with the free Hulu from Sprint.  ← Has anyone tried to find out if this is possible?

Customers will buy any Google pig as long as they get to choose the lipstick.

And why? Because a vendor-assigned theme is such an imposition?

What next? The ability to attribute your own meanings to words? (It’s already begun)
Pencil just stabbed Retina... like a Pro.  Blood was covered with 12 different colors of iPhone Pro cases.
The iMacs were in the news for more than just the colours, so that is a bit disingenuous. I'll give you the Purple iPhone, though.

Nevertheless, the point @cpsro is making, which I'm sure you understand, is that it seems Android 12's main feature is themes. Your little "pot-meet-kettle" post falls flat here.
What actually falls flat is your distinction without a difference.  With Apple, you seem to be able to recognize it was about more than colors, although the colors were a huge emphasis that garnered the lion's share of publicity.  Google also emphasized more than colors with the OS update, but it's somehow different.

The main feature of Materia You is user customization.  A user can customize as little or as much as they want.  And yes, color is a part of that customization.  Just like color was a part of the iMac intro.  The pot and the kettle are black.
