  • Spotify buys podcast discovery platform Podz as war with Apple heats up

I don't think Apple knows they are in an imaginary war with Spotify. As a company and as a successful business Spotify is less than a rounding error in Apples least successful department.
I don't think Spotify knows about the war either.  You're reacting to AI's editorial choice to write a click-baity headline.  If you search "Spotify buys Podz" on the cyber, AI is the only site with the inflammatory headline.
Spotify has been going around the world complaining to any legislators that will listen about Apple. They are afraid of competition from Apple. It’s ironic that they complain about acquisitions but then strategically acquires companies.
We're all well aware of what Spotify has been doing.  Most of us with a modicum of common sense are also aware that this acquisition in not a part of some imaginary war.  AI's choice of headline to describe the acquisition paints a picture that appeals to the fanboy contingent in Apple's overall fanbase.  As I said, they're the only site to take that adversarial slant with their headline.  It's their right.  No big deal.  For forum members to build narratives around "the war" as if it's from Spotify's perspective...  yeah, that's a bit misguided imo.  It's the same deal in the other thread where AI actually says the rumor they're reporting is sketchy yet the comments are mostly "Samsung's copying gaaaaah".  Misguided.  Just like here.

  • Creepy data hoarders at Facebook working on Android-powered wearable camera to track your ...

    2 observations.
    1. Article reads as if it was written by an angsty teen.  That's a helluva lot of words for a rumored product that's doomed to fail.
    2.  Worrying about a FB watch (an obvious failure waiting to happen) while the site continuously hoovers the details of the lives of hundreds of millions of people is like staring at the Band-Aid on the finger while bleeding out from the shotgun wound in the gut.

FB is on so much hardware that the inevitable failure of a FB branded watch will mean just as much to their data mining as the failed phone.  Basically nothing.

Very nice indeed….is the battery case charging wirelessly??
    No usb-c.

No mention I can see of which what the chip is, but I assume H1
There was mention in the article. This thing does NOT use any Apple chip (H1 or otherwise). It says Beats is using their own chip. This means there is no instant pairing with Apple devices, no iCloud syncing between devices, no automatic switching, and I’m guessing no ability to use spatial audio. I have no idea why they did this, this is a complete deal-breaker for me, and I’m guessing many many others.
No it does not use the H1.  That's 100% intentional imo.  It uses a chip that allows for more compatibility parity with iOS and Android devices.  Beats is a universal brand.  Not as ecosystem focused as AirPods.  The price point does get you Spacial Audio and Dolby Atmos in Apple Music (soon on both platforms as well).

Some may be turned off by the lack of ecosystem perks like iCloud sync and auto-switching.  For them, other Beats or AirPods are available.  But my guess is these weren't designed for the all-in Apple user.  These were designed for "erbody and they momma", regardless of ecosystem.  I'm guessing there are many, many, many more of those people out there who aren't all-in with Apple.  They might have an iPad and Samsung phone, iPhone and Dell XPS, or any mixed combination of products.  These Beats would be right up their alley.

Price point, functionality, universal compatibility, plus the funky colors they're going to subsequently intro... I think these are going to be a hit.  The colors can be seen in the video that @Rayz2016 ; linked above.
