LOL. kinda pointless really. Perhaps I don’t understand this fully? do you have to reach out and grab your phone, or even so much as touch it/look (touch/face id) to unlock your car? If so, Terrible, Horrible, Lame. My car already has walk up keyless entry. No need to touch, look at, click, pull out anything. Sigh. Apple i’m not impressed. Not since 2011. Sad.

Perhaps you don't understand it "fully" because it hasn't been announced and nobody knows all the details yet.
Did your narrow mind even consider for a second that it might use the same technology as transit pass whereby you wouldn't have to take the phone out of your pocket or push a button on your watch in orer for it to work?!
Dang bud.  That is both rude and wrong.  The tech has been announced and the details are readily available.  Apple's name "CarKey" is the only thing that's new.  The tech is not new. It's already on Release 3.0.  It's a development of the Car Connectivity Consortium. https://carconnectivity.org/  It's already in use on the Hyundai Sonata through supported Android devices.

  • Apple should buy DuckDuckGo to limit reliance on Google, analyst says

... Most users couldn't give a fig about having Google as their default search engine (for which Apple gets paid handsomely). In fact, I am guessing most users actually welcome it. ...
I agree, but more users are starting to become aware of such things. It is slowly trickling out of geek-land.
Yeah, but he's right.  Most don't care.  That awareness barely registers a blip on the radar. DDG is still in geek-land.  By and large, Google is still the world's search engine.

Their data is searchable by region.  To see DDG influence, you need to search by US, Canada, or N. America.

I’ve been using DDG for about a year and have generally been happy with it.  Once in a while I’ll switch over to google, and google has some things like reverse image search that DDG doesn’t have but overall DDV works fine for me.

The other thing I’ve done is switched to private browsing. That combined with the fact that I almost never log into my google account means Google has very little information to go off of. Like viclauyyc said, part of the reason google gives better results is because they save data on you which is exactly why you would want to use DDG in the first place.
Private browsing and not logging into your Google account will give you more peace of mind than actual privacy.  Private browsing doesn't prevent you from being tracked.  It prevents another user from seeing the sites you visited using a specific computer, but want no one to know about.  It also prevents your normal search results from being polluted by a visitor's or guest's usage of your browser.  It does not stop your ISP or some websites from seeing your browsing activities.  For example, Appleinsider uses both Google Adsense and Google Analytics.  Whether or not you're logged into your Google account, if you're on the same computer there's enough aggregate information out there (historical and current) to follow you from site to site with nary an issue.  Facebook does it better than anyone... even if you don't have a FB account.

Without extraordinary efforts like ad blockers, vpns, and such, chances are good that you're being tracked.

Google's Knight in Shining Armor comes to its defense right on schedule. I was going to say this article will certainly trigger @Gatorguy but he was already triggered. My bad.
I had just finished reading about it on another tech site a few minutes earlier so was already familiar with the lawsuit and it's relative merits. That editor came to the same conclusion I did.
Dude, why do you even bother.  lkrupp only deals in inuendo and muckraking.  He never makes factual or relevant comments.  Chances are greater than not that he's completely unaware of what Incognito Mode is, how it functions, or what it's actual purpose is.  Most likely doesn't even care to know or discuss facts.  He only sees an opportunity to disparage.  It's his schtick.  You're better off dealing with someone with a modicum of topical knowledge and a willingness to engage in honest discourse.

  • Apple Pro Display XDR wins display of the year award

The SID hands out 3 Display of the Year awards annually.  This year's recipients were Apple for the XDR, BOE for their BD Cell Display, and Samsung for their foldable display.  The article sort of conspicuously omitted one of the winners.
